I'm so pleased to be in the Castle tonight. For added torment, I will be working on an online traffic violator school course while listening to MCoQ. It's a comedy traffic school and so far, not a single joke has been funny.

Watched the show, loved it, had to have the score.

Les Revenants. Dug it. That show is very un-American (in a good way) with its subtle creep factor. But I'll like it even better if season 2 goes somewhere and it all turns out to make sense. Unlikely, perhaps.

Best traffic joke so far: I want to die peacefully like my Grandfather, not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

I probably wasn't paying close enough attention -- what was the newer-sounding movie trailer, the 2nd one? Sounded like a good revenge flick?
Avatar 1:01am
Wm.:

Yes, it was the second aired. Modern horror-film trailers always have that digital "whump" sound, not sure why. Trying to hit the brown note I guess.

I figured out why last week's playlist comments were so very active. Everyone is in a much better mood when they don't have to go to work the next day, and / or have a few days off to look forward to. So, the answer to universal happiness and increased socialization of the human race is simple—get rid of work!
Avatar 1:16am
Wm.:

What if they gave a WORK and no one came? The Koch brothers and Dick Cheney would collapse; I think the rest of us would be doing much better, just fucking around all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am
Fuzzy:

Works for me (no pun intended!)
  1:21am
JakeGould:

Truth be told, I keep my own hours and am doing some “work” right now. There are pluses/minuses to 9-5 versus a contractor gig. Just saying.
Avatar 1:25am
Wm.:

I work from home, freelance as well. I just remember when I had to "report" to an office every day how much I wanted to put a bullet in my head. It was like 8th grade all over again, except I got paid. Last week was so exuberant, everyone was so chatty. Just making an observation I believe to be accurate. I get shit done at 1 a.m., too, and I love sleeping in. Day jobs kill the spirit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am
blee:

Day jobs do kill the spirit. I just started a typical job in October. I was freelancing full time for 5 years prior. I do like being able to interact with people in person with this new job, but some days the human interaction is a curse.
Avatar 1:34am
Wm.:

The whole "shit rolls downhill" thing, from owner / managers to middle managers to support staff (aka me) was too much. Just give me a desk and work to do and leave me the fuck alone; I'll get it done! And done right. It's all the BULLSHIT POLITICS of a "real job" that make it intolerable. My Satanic Pride could not bear it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am
blee:

EXACTLY! Work politics will drain your blood. I just have to keep in mind that it's all a sick joke. A very, very sick joke.
  1:39am
JakeGould:

Well, I was contract for 10+ years, then scored a decent gig for 3 years, then decided to go contract again because I had a decent choice for once. And I am happy I made the leap, but sometimes the social aspect is what I miss. Thankfully I still keep in touch with the good folks from full-time gigs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am

THUMBS UP!
  1:52am
JakeGould:

Also, we really do live in an economy where people could possibly work part-time and have a life. But nobody in the U.S. wants “part-timers”. It’s like you get a full-time job, you have joined a cult.

Hel:

Had no idea that any US radio played obscure black metal. Do you ever play any Aghast? Thanks.
Avatar 2:13am
Wm.:

I usually play even more black metal than I did tonight. A great many bands have also played live on this show, too many to mention here. De Hel - In De Hel was on my year's end favorites list, if that's you. Others have played Aghast, too. This show is often thought of as a "black metal" show, though tonight I only did one full set.

Past shows / playlists here: www.wfmu.org... ...I have hosted Malkuth, Yellow Eyes, Grafvolluth, The Black Twilight Circle, Verglas...just off the top of my head. Also, RB of Seed Stock Recs. / Bone Awl / Raspberry Bulbs has guest DJ'ed 2-3 times.

Thanks Wm. No I'm not "De Hel", I'm just some old bat in Manhattan who listens to black metal. Really enjoyed your show so far!
Avatar 2:19am

Ah, ok! Other shows here play black metal too, sometimes. But this show plays bm on a weekly / regular basis. Been here, at different times / days, since 2009. Thanks for tuning in.
