thanks for the shout out Todd! 2 fine sticksmen who wailed on Joe's sessions were the great Bobby Graham and Clem Cattini

Feels like tonights show was more or less made over here in little olde blighty - amazing stuff, thanks.
  4:37pm

from a todd-o-fannic: this show is AMAZING!! it may be distracting me from recording - but worth it. i must concur with the Cattini/Graham worship!!

Telstar : The Joe Meek Story - on Netflix worth a watch.
  4:44pm
dennis diken:

they both are great, I guess I can name alot more tracks Bobby played on that slay me
  4:45pm
clarke:

Dennis: what percentage of my childhood Mick Avory fanaticism was really due Clem??
  4:48pm
clarke:

for instance - is it mick A. on Something Else By??
  4:51pm
dennis diken:

I believe CC is on most of the Kontroversy album and later "Live Life" on Misfits. Bobby is on much of the early Kinks stash, including their first few singles and most of their 1st LP. that;s Mick on "Something Else" and the rest of the 60s records, far as I know. Mick was playing way cool by that time
  4:53pm
clarke:

ah well - then i might concur with the leaning towards BG - ha ha.
  4:55pm
clarke:

oh and yes - i still love mick's later work - he is the michael clarke of england! "just let me get in there!"
  4:58pm
dennis diken:

let's not forget Bobby on the DC5 smashes, Pet Clark, Dusty S, PJ Proby "Hold Me," "What'd I Say" by Brenda Lee, Pretty Things (he produced 'em too!) , etc etc
  4:59pm
clarke:

i will not forget!!!
  5:00pm
clarke:

who drums on the Dave Davies 'solo' stuff??
  5:01pm
clarke:

i mean the 60's solo stuff -
  5:01pm
dennis diken:

Mick A, and the rest of the Kinks play on 'em too, methinks!
  5:02pm
clarke:

but wasn't that about the time that mick nearly killed dave???!!
  5:03pm
clarke:

it sounds like mick is on it -- but as i have discovered what i believed was mick was someone else
Avatar 5:06pm
Sissophonic Cheryl:

One of my favorites by the late great Kirsty!
  5:06pm
dennis diken:

I think the legendary incident was in '65 and I believe Clem was called in (for Kontroversy) while Mick laid low for a bit but good ol' Mick came back in short order and stayed on the throne for a goodly while

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I have never heard the rocking side of Kirsty MacColl. Brilliant!
  5:07pm
clarke:

yes -- i have also heard that nicky hopkins was fairly instrumental in talking the kinks into not firing mick
  5:10pm
clarke:

of course nicky played with Sutch - to address the other chat -- sorry if it sounds like i hijacked the chat!! been wanting to query DD for a while on the subject
  5:10pm

Mick's feel on Face To Face thru Village Green is tops!
  5:11pm
clarke:

agreed, sir!!!
  5:12pm

i am also a huge fan of the 70's Kinks stuff - and he is good on that and i like henrit too.
