I'd heard that Liturgy was going to move away from black metal. Can't blame em for wanting to grow, but....not so into this.

Martha:

Hey Jeff M! Hey KP! Glad you are checking in - hope you've both ha d a good evening -
  11:04pm
JakeGould:

Been here all along. But weird day and weird week. So doing weird things to eventually get back to normal.
  11:05pm
JakeGould:

Also the color scheme joke was about that stupid dress photo that apparently has been the biggest thing on the Internet ever the past few days.
  11:09pm
Martha:

I missed the dress photo - also having a totally weird and highly stressful week - hence the slight oddity of the show tonight - not one of my best but we all learn, no?
  11:11pm
JakeGould:

Martha, here is the dress photo that started it all on Tumblr. swiked.tumblr.com...
  11:12pm
JakeGould:

Then this happened, “Within a half-hour, her post attracted some 500 likes and shares. The photo soon migrated to Buzzfeed and Facebook and Twitter, setting off a social media conflagration that few were able to resist.” www.nytimes.com...
  11:16pm
Martha:

WTf? That is one of the stupidest things I think I have seen on the IN, and that says a lot. Jesus.
  11:19pm
JakeGould:

Yeah, it’s nuts. And I shit you not… When I was out and about today I heard at least 3 different groups of people speaking in 3 different languages about the dress… Showing it to people on their phones… And this was NOT in hipster Brooklyn. Very far from it. Nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
Chop Scott:

This fucking rocks.

ottovonturnpike:

I'm not noticing a drop on quality.

If tonight's show is a slight oddity, keep it up.
  11:26pm
jeff-m:

evening mr chop
  11:29pm
Martha:

Thanks all - you should ignore these moments of self-pity -
  11:29pm
rw:

Martha, I think I'm in agreement with ottovonturnpike and SiHV. Been enjoying the slight deviation from the usual. No need for second guessing yourself. I'm pretty sure you couldn't do a bad radio show if you tried.
  11:30pm
Martha:

But really - are that many people freaking color-blind??? And who gives a shit anyway -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm
Fuzzy:

Rise, Martha -- RISE!
  11:32pm
rw:

That dress thing is of interest to me because of my job as a photographer. I copied the image into photoshop and cranked the brightness way up and it did change to something that resembled white and gold. My guess is that it depends more on your phone's brightness settings than anything else.
  11:36pm
Martha:

Thanks all for checking in - but in the future you could help me by checking my self-pity at the door - sometimes we all have moods, but this is a professional gig -
  11:38pm
Martha:

Yes, I know, esp. w/ digital imagery these days it can be easy to get confused - but really, it isn't as though she live in Wonderland - someone in the real world must have actually seen it -
  11:39pm
Martha:

I would be good to have a web site "Memes you SHOULD pay attention to" -
  11:45pm
rw:

Coincidentally I'm currently working on a photo of an object with gold elements that turn dark (black) if they're not reflecting anything...
  11:46pm
JakeGould:

“But really - are that many people freaking color-blind??? And who gives a shit anyway.” Exactly. It makes no sense why this stupid picture has become such a thing that everyone in the world is talking about it as if it is the shroud of Turin.
  11:47pm
Martha:

Interesting - is that a general property of the metal? Or metals?
  11:50pm
rw:

Yes. I shot an object covered with aluminum foil recently. It was a tough one. In order to light the foil you have to shine light on the stuff it's reflecting.
  11:52pm
rw:

And while we're on this subject... my friend Amanda finished a pretty great sculpture yesterday. It has clothing, and a photographic gray scale as elements. Not sure anybody's really seen this photo yet:

That dress color argument distracts people from more important things, like what Kanye West was tweeting about! Also, great show tonight, Martha.

JG, Yeah that's the first thing she said to me, "No 50 Shades of Grey jokes." It's good though, right? It's a little over 6 feet tall.
