I'm just sitting at the kitchen table typing this note. Just outside my window I can see birds hopping around on the grass picking out seeds or what have you. Robins, Orioles, Sparrows, Woodpeckers and a few others I don't know about. They have a feeder, and hang out there, too. Next to that, the Camellia has many flowers that have bloomed. The grass is still mostly dormant, but green is starting to show up (it's zoysia, so it takes a bit longer). Some squirrels are snooping around looking for nuts they hid last fall. I'm listening to WFMU.

@fred - Enlightened WFMU listeners like us know Laura's greatness. The winner of the CD can give it as a gift and pass the goodness on to others. Is that what you were thinking of?

she 's pretty damn great.

@Ken: I'm not that forward thinking. I just meant that if someone doesn't have it, getting it as a gift from the station is a great way to get it, and supporting the station in the process is probably something she'd like

I'm a swag for life guy who can't figure out how to apportion my pledge. I am also an old fan of Ms. Cantrell and was a big fan of the Radio Thrift Shop. I saw her at the Museum of TV and Radio at a live broadcast years ago and had to leave to work backstage at Cats and she walked my daughter to the theater so she could stay. I have been a listener since the early seventies and it is one of the reasons that at sixty-three I am still usually one of the hippest guys in the room. Death to oxymoronic classic rock! I know this is disjointed but it comes from the heart.
