Good morning Baby!

dave from toronto:

i hope the wc movie is better than the book.

what a disappointment that was...
Avatar 11:15am
Michael Shelley:

The 2 projects are not related - the movie is indeed better.
  11:17am
dave from toronto:

that's good to hear.

i missed your intro. the director is the son of one of the crew?
Avatar 11:19am
Michael Shelley:

Yes - Denny is the song of guitarist Tommy Tedesco
  11:27am
scott:

Of course there was a real group called the Rip Chords, they just didn't have much connection to the records that Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston made in their name. Also, Dave, the Wrecking Crew movie is pretty great and has zero connection to that mediocre book that came out a few years ago.
  11:29am
JakeGould:

How many of these stupid “Open Letter from a White Guy” songs are there?
  11:29am
scott:

A lot, Jake.
Avatar 11:29am
Michael Shelley:

yes - The "Rip Chords" were created - they were not a real group
Avatar 11:30am
vietnam_veterinarian:

man that Dick Clark things was campy, pretty funny!
  11:31am
scott:

WRONG, Michael. They were a vocal group who recorded before they worked with Bruce and Terry, and they continued touring to promote the records that Bruce and Terry made after they started producing the records. Look it up.

dave from toronto:

hey michael - did you ever hear anyone confirm or deny carol kaye saying the name "the wrecking crew" was made up by hal blaine way after the fact? in the 90's i think she said.

Michael Shelley:

Ask Scott - he knows everything - in ALL CAPS no less
  11:34am

I don't know everything, but I know everything about the Rip Chords.

alright scott - what's the deal?

I will definitely want the DVD when it comes out, but if you can possibly see it in a theater, do so. I don't care how big your TV screen is -- seeing it projected onto a movie screen is a completely separate experience, especially if you think of it as cinema and not just as a big TV doc.

and then there is Wichita Lineman.....
