The program formerly known as Dinner at Andy's, The Fuzzy Glove Hour, Whores, and The Happiness Hut. Ken and Andy, also known as The Enema Boys, further lower WFMU's already abysmal standards on a weekly basis. Stunt radio which subjects the radio audience to concepts and topics which mature adults should not have to endure. Find the fatal flaw. (Visit homepage.)

  6:17pm

RISD has more art emphasis, but you'll get by far the better general liberal arts education at Reed, something you should not miss out on. If you're really an artist, you don't need to attend an "art school" as an undergraduate. There will be plenty of opportunities further on to study with experienced artists later on, if you want/need to.

Thing about Reed is, it's real "alternative" and all that, but it's an old, we'll-established, old-guard "alternative", a "traditional alternative"....er...

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:30pm

Hey, news for you. Providence is the northeast.
  6:30pm
deez:

My suggestion is if you're going for an Art degree, go to RISD for the program and the name. If you want to change paths or need a different type of job, saying you went to RISD looks really good on paper. Reed, maybe not so much.
  6:31pm
Dean:

That's hilarious, Listener Robert. Maybe you shouldn't have taken those AP credits?
  6:31pm
spodiodi:

Nickels were made of nickel? Dimes of silver?
  6:31pm
Listener Robert:

Daisy knows about the "premise" premise of 7SD. She knows the jargon--she actually listened to her father's show. That's love.
  6:31pm
Katy:

@ Arielle - I hear you - BUT - going to art school is useful because you meet people who might change your destiny. I started out as a modelmaker and am now an animator because of who I met. Of course - money is crap.. but every artist should expect that :)
  6:32pm
P-90:

In the job market after school, Reed will look to prospective employers as a great college degree, RISD as "merely" an art school degree. There IS a practical difference.

As someone who grew up in Manhattan, then went to high school in California, I can attest to the strong benefits of moving to the left coast and experiencing the contrasts in cultures. There's no substitute for what you get from that experience. In general, I'd say Rhode Island is too close for someone coming from Jersey who wants to "go away" to school. Just in general...
