Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm
Cubicle Carl:

I think Robin Thicke ripped this song off too. Evening all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm
Cubicle Carl:

There's some retail space available at the 47-50 Street and 6th Avenue subway station in NYC. Right next to the stairs of the south west entrance at 47th Street. I thought it would be great space for a new vinyl store.
  9:16pm
JakeGould:

Near the flower shop? Or the Sbarro's space?

Next door to the convenience deli...it's not my regular subway station so I'm a little rusty on the geography.
Avatar 9:18pm
spodiodi:

Why not make new vinyl in that space?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Jack Mello:

hey adam and spoiod, thanks fer listeni'. more to come...
Avatar 9:20pm
spodiodi:

Thank you, Jack. Nice program! *dances*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
Cubicle Carl:

Yes, spodiodi. Vinyl slipcovers, vinyl notebooks and vinyl adhesives...working our way up to vinyl albums.
Avatar 9:21pm
spodiodi:

Awww, yiss!
Avatar 9:22pm
spodiodi:

Open question for people who live in NYC: Isn't it way too crowded?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
Cubicle Carl:

Jake, we can go halfsies on the record store project. We might lose money, but we'll be happy.
Avatar 9:23pm
spodiodi:

THIS jam beats the last one. Sick.
Avatar 9:25pm
spodiodi:

Clear Vinyl slipcovers? How very NE Philly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
Cubicle Carl:

Well, spodiodi, it's not quite the crowds, it's the culture of the crowds.
Avatar 9:26pm
spodiodi:

Babel nonetheless?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Cubicle Carl:

Yes, vinyl to protect your furnishings from bodily fluids and the like.
Avatar 9:26pm
spodiodi:

(HE'S TALKING ABOUT SPERM)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
ikÑ”:

@spodiodi@9:22, sometimes, but the pros mostly outweigh that con. I was in NNJ for a while & commuted for that and other reasons, but being far out wasn't really worth the extra space.
Avatar 9:27pm
spodiodi:

Well, whatever. Vinyl slipcovers all around.
Avatar 9:28pm
spodiodi:

But sitting on vinyl FEELS LIKE SHIT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm

Sperm and other funky fluids.

spodiodi:

Cubicle Carl knows.
  9:32pm
JakeGould:

@CubicleCarl (@9:23): Hmmmm… I would be willing to be a 3rd partner in a beatnik cafe in a subway station. Like there is a small space at the Metropolitan Avenue stop that some folks turned into a pop-up zine store. Pretty sure I could be into something like that and book some cool hepcats and bongo players.
Avatar 9:32pm
spodiodi:

Mr. DJ Jack Mello: requests? out of the question?
  9:33pm
JakeGould:

Meaning 47-50th street is suit/cubicle city. You want me in, we need to be where the action is. Maybe even the Canal Street station on the 2 line.
  9:35pm
JakeGould:

And a few flea market vendors I know who might even have Etsy shops have to be in on this.
  9:35pm
Hel:

I dunno, the only area that seems to sell vinyl is the lower eastside and underground labels lik,e peaceville etc etc. Lovin' the music, sounds like the old Studilo 54
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Jack Mello:

requests will be tough tonight...kick back and enjoy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@spodiodi - Don't know if you saw my answer at the end of Bosh's show. My avatar was made by my son. It's Hamburger Mario serving up a burger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Cubicle Carl:

Yes, Jake. I thought about that. The advantages are is that it's centrally located, and accessible to all if the word gets out. We could also catch some closet hipsters who are posing as suits. They might be looking for an escape, and spend lots of their disposable income on vinyl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
Cubicle Carl:

You were also talking about the Lorimer Street Metropolitan Ave station and not the Maspeth Metropolitan Ave station I presume?
  9:40pm
JakeGould:

@CubicleCarl: Hmmm… Good point. The potential for in store (in station?) performances would be good.
  9:42pm
JakeGould:

@CubicleCarl: Yes, the Lorimer Street Metropolitan station. Here are details on the zine stand that was opened there about 2 years ago. www.papermag.com...
Avatar 9:42pm
fleep:

Anyplace that serves food has to jump through 5x more bureaucratic hoops than a place selling hard goods. Will you need a Picker, to scavenge vinyl from aging boomers in small towns?
  9:43pm
JakeGould:

@fleep: Yeah, the food aspect is a no go. NYC is really unfriendly towards basic food establishments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm
Cubicle Carl:

@JakeGould (@9:40): It would be like an old fashioned New York happening...
  9:46pm
JakeGould:

@JackMello: These selections are pretty good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm
Cubicle Carl:

@JackMello: Man, this is funky. If I knew I would have worn different shoes.
  9:48pm
JakeGould:

But man, I remember when Bleecker Street had that corner at McDougal with 4 cafes. One on each corner. And this was the 1980s and part of the 1990s. If that could be done in a subway? That would work. I think?
