Good morning, Samantha, this sounds as lovely as the morning here.
Salut, fred.

...no Burning this week...well, I suppose it is warmer!...this could work quite well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45am
fred:

Wow, what a mix of familiar and unknown in this show! Samantha, when do you get a regular spot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
Stanley:

Friends!
Samantha, please to meet you.
Is this Nate K's slot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am
Sem Chumbo:

Stanley! Yup, this is Nate's usual playpen for Burning Things Down. Samantha was kind enough to fill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am
Sem Chumbo:

*in*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am
Stanley:

Thought so.
Sofa, so good.
Sem - is this you just in from work, or an early start for you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
Sem Chumbo:

Whenever you hear from me, Stanley, I am at work. Kinda one of those round the clock, on-call deals. Suits me:-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11am
Stanley:

Ah, you have a job you can tune in while working.
You lucky dog!

Max:

Have enjoyed your show!

MES!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am
Sem Chumbo:

Yes, that is a plus no doubt.
Now, Sunday noon-ish in Scotland. Caber-tossing on your agenda? Agitating for an independent state? Scotch appreciation afternoon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25am
Guido from Cologne:

Hello everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am
Stanley:

Funny that. These stereotypical activities are not far from the truth for me, an English immigrant of thirty years. Whilst it may be true that I haven't tossed a caber in a long while, I am all for independence and most enjoying the London political elite getting so upset with us. We have a general election this week and its the barbarian hordes north of the border that are going to hold the balance of power! Hehe, they didn't want us to leave them and now they're all upset we want to take part in their government! And as for whisky, the thought did cross my mind to go down the *club* later, to see what's shakin with this month's release of single cask malts. Hehe, again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am
fred:

@Stanley: It looks like more distilleries are opening these days, a welcome development after all the closings. I'm partial to peat, so I'm a fan of Islays. Any interesting things so far?

veloso!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am
Stanley:

@Fred - great to hear you like a drop of the ol' peated. Yeah, there are new distilleries coming on stream, I'm keen to try a release from Penderyn Distillery in wales. Formed in 2004, their single malts are just coming good round about now. These small start-ups are also shaking the gin scene over here as well. while they wait for their malts to mature they are experimenting with craft gins. Sometimes, really successfully. On Islay the newest is Kilchoman and they are releasing lighted peated whiskies matured in Madeira and port casks. I had a wonderful dram the other day from Balvenie finished in a Caribbean rum cask. Delicious.

Ken From Hyde Park:

A lovely guten TZAG, Samantha and listeners far and wide. It's a brisk, sunny morning in the Hudson Valley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18am
fred:

My brother gave me bottle of Kilchoman for my birthday. Fine stuff. I'm still a Laphroaig man though. I wish their cask strength 10-year was still available over here, it used to be my beverage of choice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am
Stanley:

(Returns from kitchen, wiping hands on the cat) Ah, Laphroaig. I visited once and became a member of their society, giving me legal title of one square foot of Islay peat bog which they rented back from me at a dram a year! Of course, you had to visit to collect your *rent*. Laphroaig still does everything by hand, its a fascinating place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am
fred:

Yeah, I got many of these offers with bottles over the years. Never acted on it though
My best "job interview" ever was when a startup poached me from a big software company over a bottle of Port Ellen. It worked, of course. That was a great distillery, long gone now, and the remaining bottles are priced way out of my reach. I still keep one for some special occasion that hasn't come up yet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am
Sem Chumbo:

What a wonderful story, fred, a modern day version of getting shanghaied. Soften up the target with strong waters and he'll do anything you say:-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47am
Mike East:

8am here and already discussions of scotch...
...and this is why we call you "Laphroaig fred."
Good morning all.
