Is Nakara from Malawi? Google Translate identifies "balimba" as a Chichewa word (but translates it as "balimba" in English, thank you very much, Google Translate). A real Chichewa/English dictionary has no entry for the word, *but* it does include "limbalimba," which means "shake oneself free."

I'm very meticulous in alphabeticalizing my recs (unlike everything else in my life), but comps, library recs, and artist collaborations throw a wrench in my air-tight system. The wife has forbidden me from buying recs for four years now (unless me move outside NYC) except for live shows. I think she'll also put a moratorium on books as well soon... no room.

I'm a librarian, ngh, and I file my books alphabetically by size (meaning, they go where I can fit 'em). Records by genre, then artist name, title if a comp. Where the compilation features one artist/composer (say, Baroque stuff with mostly Bach), it goes under the name of the best represented artist/composer. And then there are the Miscellany sections...

In college, I worked as a librarian until my senior year. I have all of my records in total alphabetical order, as I don't know how to discern genres. When I djed a lot, it did make picking out recs really time consuming, depending on the boundaries determined by the curator, except for the rare time I could play whatever.

for the record, i fall into the camp of filing them by title. but it does make them tough to find sometimes. my gf (even though we've been living together for 20+ years, we've never dared to interfile our dual voluminous lp collections) goes with keeping them all separate. it kind of philosophically bothers me (i too have an mls) but i can't deny that it enhances findability.
