Good morning, Bob, and WFMU listeners!

Good morning!

Hey Bob, thrilling beginning as always. I was reading Peter Walker's liner notes to the new Karen Dalton project. He mentions Bob Brainen in Woodstock who "kept a musical open house" and was very supportive of Karen. Is this you? If so, would you consider inviting Walker on the show to talk about Remembering Mountains and those Woodstock days?

Howdy all!
9:25am stone cold dead reminds me of....:

Another tune I've heard before perhaps in a movie that I really love. I think a film noir. If anyone has any clues I'd be much obliged.
  9:32am marc:

Is that Louis Tomlinson's father?
  9:56am Scott:

The great Carl Radle, bass player of the Playboys and Derek & the Dominos had a birthday on June 18. RIP, we love you.

Ah, "What Reason Could I Give"! That track and "All My Life" are special, and under-appreciated.
Avatar 10:10am purpleknif:

Didn't Rod Stewart play harmonica on "My Boy Lollipop?"
  10:24am ff:

I swear this new gal DeAnna channels Laura Nyro and Joan Armatrading and other sangers from that era.
  10:30am Jack:

Not music, but Phil Austin of the Firesign Theatre died yesterday at age 74. Actually, he did a lot of their music on their comedy albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Ken From Hyde Park:

Some Aretha Franklin trivia I just came across: Asteroid 249516 Aretha is named after her.
  10:51am fxo:

the show has been great.

Landing here late, blessed be the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am SeanG:

weeeeee!
  10:55am Stuart Rose:

I'm sorry to hear of Phil Austin's passing, Jack. Firesign was truly original, but also deeply rooted in hippie and old time radio and show biz.
A really eclectic and brilliant bunch.

I imagine someone at FMU will honor him in the next week.

Shopping for budget albums and cut outs. What fun that was.
Avatar 2:42pm Bob Brainen:

Greetings all viewing-here's some answers, etc. to the above:
-Beeswing: RE: Peter Walker book on Karen Dalton.
Joe McGasko asked me about this. Def. not me. I wish I could find out who Walker is referring to. There are NOT 2 Bob Brainens!
-marc: Pete Tomlinson, who I hope can join me next week-is not Louis' father. (who is Louis?)
-purpleknif Re: Rodd Stewart harp on Lollipop, I'm pretty sure that's an urban legend, but nowhere as fun as the other urban legend about Rod.
-Jack RE: Phil Austin RIP. In the musical field, Firesign Theatre provided sound effects to Byrds' Draft Morning on Notorious album.
-Ken from HP-Wow cool info on Aretha! She deserves it.
-Thanks FXO! Folks should check out the archives during your sabbatical: wfmu.org...
-Thanks to All!
Bob B.
