This is like managing a forest. I thought WFMU was having technical difficulties, but now that I shut down the yes album I see that there is very minimal ambient music that has probably been going for some time. Well, we all have our own tastes.

Thanks for explaining. I checked it out, Missouri seemed a lot cooler in those days, though I suppose that is not uncommon relative to now. I had a friend that went to WUSTL, there wasn't anything like that in missouri when I was there. Though I speak from very limited experience, you can kinda get the feel of a place fairly quickly, as I have learned from places I have been back to a bunch of times.

See I think this sort of thing is what kept prog rock from having more exposure. A lot of it is quite plodding, good term. The trick is to keep it interesting. Similar to classic or jazz or other things they cited as influences. Hey, it's a high bar.

good point, zappa. Why doesn't he get more play on wfmu? Too mainstream? I'm not disrespecting it, I guet that it pays the bills, I just love that I am not about to hear it. Nothing but love. I can't tell you how many times I listened through that show when I was way more wasted than I am now, and it's like wow, what a world. Like most things on WFMU! But I still would probably prefer whatever other weirdness is in store. Almost certain. ;)

there aren't as many websites as there used to be that have a live chat, it was actually kind of a precursor to social media like having a live call-in to a radio show, cool to trace the evolution. But I do feel like the number of both web and radio shows with a live common has decreased over all. Part of the plan. FMU continues to stand against the tide though.

Who is the other FMU DJ that plays birdsong in the background? This is certainly silly though.

Thanks Jeff. Happy to have caught the last hour, after missing quite a few episodes of your show. Loved the Don Cherry. A shame I missed the Dead, but I'll hopefully be watching the final Soldier Field show via satellite in a cinema in Brighton. RIP Chris Squire.
