Has the switchover happened yet, or will I need to restart the Flash player?

Hi Listener Robert! No, it hasn't happened yet.

Read a great quote the other day: "Life is what happens in between Nazario Scenarios".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Amanda:

John Lennon said that, right? BTW, I've decided to not cite the dates of the recordings today. But this is from 1972 and the next one is from 1966, FWIW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Uncle Michael:

This song is now *not* in the Friday show! Har. Nice one, Amanda...
  12:09pm

Not sure, it was in a fortune cookie.

Too bad they didn't go with the "stick with your wife" barrel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Amanda:

@Uncle Michael, I hope other songs in my show don't mess you up! Because we aren't done with the PF Sloan portion by half.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Uncle Michael:

I was just playing the one. There are lots of great ones. I'll pick another. It's a good thing. More for everyone.

Hello Amanda, A Lennon quote, not sure if it is correctly attributed. "Reality leaves a lot to the imagination".

Avatar 12:40pm
KP:

I think ive mentioned here before that whoever does Homer's voice on French TV is magnifique! Spot on. Everybody else is a little lacking, not Msr. Homer.
  12:40pm
Listener Robert:

The genericity yet familiarity of non-recurring characters in season 1 was what led me to believe for many years that when we saw ostensibly the same character in various episodes, it wasn't meant to be exactly the same person, but a generic type. They tended to introduce character names only slowly & as needed, which is why, for instance, I was led to think the 3 police characters represented different but similar police each time they were introduced, making a joke about stereotypes.
  12:41pm
original famous sugarwolf:

Off to boring old work, glad I got to check in for a little bit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Homer being so naïve about Adiel kind of set the stage for his personality for the rest of the series. Totally unaware most of the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
listener james from westwood:

@Ken: Reminds me of Homer not noticing how hard Lurleen was coming on to him.
  12:43pm
Listener Robert:

The thing isn't that the boy speaks French, but that he as well as all Simpson characters know whatever they really need to know at the time. Like when he knows enough to pass a hx test with one extended oral remark. Or when Mr. Simpson can read & speak Chinese. Which is an extension of how all cartoon characters do that.
  12:45pm
Listener Robert:

As was explained in a strip once: "You're a cartoon character, aren't you? Don't you know when a cartoon character needs something, it just magically appears?"
  12:46pm
Listener Robert:

"Steven". I just remembered that's the name of the strip that balloon was from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Brian in UK:

Hints of Eve of Destruction there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
listener james from westwood:

Indeed, Brian, pleasantly so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
Amanda:

@KP - the French Homer & Marge fell in love and married IRL!

@Ken: That's true, good point. Poor naive Homer...

@sugarwolf: Thank you for checking in albeit briefly and non-hearing-ly!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Amanda:

@Listener Robert - That's true about the flexible reality of cartoons, of course. But in the series they often refer back to things in passing -- Homer going to space, for instance. That's more what I was getting at.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
listener james from westwood:

OF Sugarwolf: Still better than getting a Macarena.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Gaylord Fields:

During the Ponderosa Stomp conference, P.F. Sloan lamented that the lyrics to EOD are all too relevant 50 years later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Brian in UK:

Amanda ever got downwind of Mr Sloan's Album Raised on Records, probably '72/73. Some good songs. Early 70's singer/songwriter style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Dominick:

I can't begin to tell you how wrapped up I was in Sloan's music back in 1965.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Amanda:

Fart, sorry about the way that sounded all distorted though. By next Pride show I'll have a nicer-sounding record.

Dean:

@ljfw: Thanks. It's a fun word to boot. I'll guess the KJV is loaded with chiasmus. OED's lone quote to illustrate the term is:

Frequentia sustentatur, alitur otio. This is a good instance of the..figure called chiasmus..in which the order of words in the first clause is inverted in the second.

...which teaches me that the figure includes reversal of kinds of words.
