Tim Hardin = awesome. Tim Buckley = awesome too.
Avatar 3:21am
Jeff Conklin:

In full agreement on both fronts, Simon. Good morning. Thanks for checking in. Wondering if the new site has regular commenters spooked?
Avatar 3:36am
Aki Ozu:

Hello.
cool selection.
Avatar 3:37am
Jeff Conklin:

Hello, Aki! Thank you. First time listening to this program?

pacific standard simon:

It has ME spooked, frankly. I mean, do your own thing, man, but it doesn't look right, and it doesn't work right. But I'm just spooked in general by the demands of the holiday season at my job.
Avatar 3:42am
Aki Ozu:

No, I often listen to. I must say that one of the favorite programs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42am
pacific standard simon:

I've come to appreciate Richie Havens more (as time goes by).

Aki Ozu:

We have morning, and it turns out that I always listen to your night air, working

hey jeff.

re: new site design spookiness

i'm not a regular commenter, but i am a regular playlist looker-upper.

and i will say this: the path to the current playlist from the
wfmu.org main page is significantly more obscure than it used to be
(for visitors whose web clients ignore javascript).

current workaround: parse content of
"http://www.wfmu.org/wp-content/themes/wfmu-theme/library/php/includes/liveNow.php"
and know that the uri you're looking for is
"wfmu.org/playlists/shows/PLAYLISTNUMBER", where PLAYLISTNUMBER is the
value of "playlist:@attributes:id".

would be more sensible if the wfmu main page just contained a plain
old hyperlink to the current playlist.

We have morning and google translater

Good Morning, ja, the site looks new, but the playlist link remained the same, I had to check the landing page to see that a relaunch had taken place. ("regular" listener since about three month to Jeffs programme)

pacific standard simon:

@ Aki Ozu - to you I dedicate "Morning, Morning" by The Fugs. I am not the DJ, but if I were, I would play it.
Avatar 3:49am
Jeff Conklin:

All comments on the redesign will be forwarded to management. I/We appreciate the feedback. It's a work in progress....

Good Morning Jeff and listeners! I'm not spooked by the new site, but I haven't been doing anything fancy - just current playlist page and streaming audio.

...but regarding home page- i quite disliked it (the opposite of my feeling toward this Dave Burrell track...)
but i'm used to it already and don't have any trouble finding what i need to.
...it is pretty ugly though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am
coelacanth:

(but that's subjective,hey)
...i'm wondering if the Stefan on this comment board is the "belly of the beast" Stefan..?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am
pacific standard simon:

I think the central question should be: what did someone think was wrong with the old one? It would be helpful to know what someone was trying to fix.
Avatar 4:04am
Jeff Conklin:

I like it (the homepage). I like this track too, though I'm bummed it was played recently on another show. A million apologies...
  4:07am
tinkle bear:

what @pacific standard simon said at 4:04 "what did someone think was
wrong with the old one? It would be helpful to know what
someone was trying to fix."

yes. it would be helpful. probably interesting, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09am
pacific standard simon:

@Jeff - Some shows play one song every single week. Just think about how much you like that song, and how much you want it identified with your show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09am
coelacanth:

simon i think there's some functional changes that will make the new homepage easier to work with in the technology-burdened future; at least that's the impression i got.
...i personally thought the old page worked fine, but would like to have seen its color-scheme change periodically...for the hell of it...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17am

...and i didn't hear the Burrell track on Bryce's show...AND it's just twice, and it's amazing!... that unbearable cover of a Bowie song made the rounds big-time a week or 2 ago,so...all is well!
Avatar 4:18am
Jeff Conklin:

I like this show's identity to be fluid ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26am
pacific standard simon:

Well, so far, you haven't played any Grateful Dead tracks tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29am
coelacanth:

understood Jeff, but at least you're mutuality is with someone who's generally blazing trails not following them.
simon my computer says no to that link. i'll try it in the future.

...i'm out. Thanks Jeff Great first set!
'night people.

I had a period of time, three or four years ago, when I bought every experimental things on tape. Including Burial Hex and listened to the cassette deck.

I had a similar period of time, Aki. From 2003-2010!
Avatar 5:06am
Jeff Conklin:

Good morning, Tashjian! How is Armenia today?
Avatar 5:09am
Aki Ozu:

Here in Russia, it seems to have been a wave of experimental ambient drone, produced on cassette labels. Now in vogue all experimental techno.
  5:12am
Eric Hat:

Frigid good morning!
Avatar 5:12am
Jeff Conklin:

Yes, the drone scene is crowded now and, in my humble opinion, terribly boring. I'm not into the techno either...
Avatar 5:13am
Jeff Conklin:

Morning, Eric. Where you checking in from?
Avatar 5:15am
Aki Ozu:

to hear the drone has Drone Zone on Soma.fm. That is quite a sufficient :)

Fashion Tashjian:

Yerevan is currently 55 Fahrenheit, clear and sunny, and full of poorly dressed men.

Thanks for another great show, Jeff!
Avatar 5:41am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks so much, Eric. Does the music ever freak the passengers out?
  5:44am
Eric Hat:

Not at this hour. Often I'm alone or carting the late bar crew home, with whom I am acquainted and often share musical tastes with. It's always awesome driving down 66 alone. The ghosty soundtracks give me goosebumps...
Avatar 5:46am
Jeff Conklin:

This is what I like to hear, Eric. Cheers.

Likewise!
