TICKET GIVEAWAY THIS WEEK

We have two pairs of tickets available to see the internationally renowned Roshel Rubinov Ensemble perform a concert of classical Central Asian music, known as maqom. Wednesday December 9th, 7 pm at Elebash Recital Hall at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave. (at 34th St.) in midtown Manhattan. More info from the presenters, Live Sounds.

From the presenters: This is an exceptional opportunity to hear this vital repertoire played by true virtuosos in an intimate environment. Rubinov is unique among Central Asian artists in New York, as both a master singer and instrumentalist as well as a poet and composer. For this concert, Roshel will perform Central Asian music in both classic and innovative styles, using the venerable tanbur (Central Asian long-necked lute) as well as the guitar.

Rubinov is joined by his brother Yakov Rubinov, an expert player of the doira frame drum, Ilya Khavasov, one of the leader classical singers in New York, Nataniel Mallayev on keyboards, and the dancer Shahlo Khudoyberdiyeva.

To enter the drawing for a pair of tickets, email me, Rob W, here and please put "TIX" in the subject line. The deadline to enter is Sunday, December 6th at midnight.

Winners will be notified by noon (NYC time), Monday, December 7th, 2015.
