Listener comments!

  3:11pm Al:

"Driver's Seat" is a great tune. I'm surprised Sniff 'N the Tears didn't have any other hits.
  3:15pm Joey the Sleaze:

Hey Bill! What was the name of the first song you played by "the nude party" I think?
  3:15pm DaveinPA:

Holy crap does anyone know what that instrument is in the intro to this song? It sounds like a slide guitar only tuned lower like a baratone guitar... it's also on the Simon & Garfunkle version.

I like the absence of a playlist. It tests your musical knowledge !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I thought I'd be smart and wash the gunk off my car. I was almost done and <thunder> and then it started raining. Luckily, I was about done, so now my car is getting nature's rinse outside.
  3:45pm em2cd:

Caldonia by Louis Jordan is quite simply one of the greatest records of all time.
  4:00pm a simple desultory philippic:

@Sleaze -"One More Mile" kicked off today's show, also on Joe Belock's playlist . . .
@DaveinPA - doesn't Duane Eddy - "Rebel Rouser" use a deep guitar, like "Richard Cory" hook intro
  4:26pm DaveinPA:

@a simple desultory philippic - the Duane Eddy Rebel Rouser on YouTube is in Em and it sounds like a regular guitar, whereas Richard Cory is definitelyway below that pitch (C#m I think) SO either it's a downtuned guitar played w a slide or something else, but it has a really nice slippery sound...
Avatar 5:00pm glenn:

rebel rouser is played on a baritone.

says:
"For years I heard rumors that Jimmy Page [- him again? -] played the BARITONE GUITAR on [Them's] RICHARD CORY but I have not been able to unearth credible evidence to suggest as much. Anyone?"
  9:32am BK:

Page absolutely was a hired studio gun for Them at the time, usually on rhythm guitar. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he played on "Richard Cory".
