I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
fred:

I only listened to the first half, I'm saving the second for next week. I can't wait, "Okinawa stuff" sounds like something I'll enjoy a lot.
Talk about freeform: from an early 20th century performer (Vaughn DeLeath) to someone I've met (Él-g) in a few minutes
I remember a Front 242 video that involved eggs. Was it called egghead or did I make that up? I think that was a pun: "Front 2-4-2" could sound in French like "egg forehead egg skull", and calling them "front d'oeufs crane d'oeufs" was indeed a common pun about them in the late 80's
Avatar 12:24am
Mayuko:

ha! I think you're talking about the Headhunter video? it's amazing to learn all these linguistic play all these musicians play (often thanks to you!) I guess it is a good idea after all for me to provide some contexts about Japanese bands too when I can, cos it is indeed interesting to find out those things in addition to listening to music itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
fred:

That's the one. Thanks again for playing great music from Okinawa. But wait, did you mention urtyn duu? I'm a huge fan of that style. I knew about relatives in Tibet but that Hokkaido variant is new to me. That's great!
Gombodorj Byambajargal is my favorite singer, I'll send you a couple of her solo tracks, she has a lot of stuff on YouTube, but most features dubious arrangements
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
fred:

Here's a good one: youtu.be...
Avatar 10:14pm
Mayuko:

Thank you always for the info, fred! Yah I thought it was fascinating to learn from the lecture I was listening to that Oiwake (the Japanese folk songs that porters with horses would sing) has lots in common with urtyn duu: that they have very similar pentatonic scales, and many songs about horse. I would like to learn more and play more oiwake stuff in future shows, I think you'll enjoy them too.
