This is a great palate cleanser from Hamilton, which I am now obsessed with.
Avatar 12:21pm

I also thought the Lemmy tribute on the Grammys was terrible. They should have just gotten Metallica, Anthrax or even a random punk band to do Ace of Spades. And I love Alice and Duff, but meh.
Avatar 12:22pm

They should have gotten Speedwolf to do their cover of Iron Fist.

I don't think I've ever heard anything after In The Meantime.
Avatar 2:35pm

Betty was the last one that sold anything. It was very diffuse and mild, to say the least.

The guy who plays Dr. Sphincter is a genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
chris:

damn, i stepped away and missed helmet... grrr...
Avatar 2:38pm
Diane Kamikaze:

Yes, Meantime I don't think holds up very well. Strap It On is still one hell of a record. Meh for sure on the rest of the Helmet discography
Avatar 2:41pm
greenlight:

yeah, betty would be my last one.
Avatar 2:41pm
Cecile:

I still like about four songs on Meantime. Unsung is still a great track. Betty is not good.
Avatar 2:41pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Seriously, Cecile (re: dr.sphincter) -

I remember hearing Betty and wondering what the hell happened...

The Dope/Guns video compilations also had that King Snake Roost track, which I've never found on a proper release, but is the total favorite Roost tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
chris:

the eponymous in the meantime track is still something that i hear in my head over and over after 20 years, it seems
Avatar 2:43pm

Rev, Peter Mengede left the band. Simple as that.

Avatar 2:49pm
Diane Kamikaze:

Cecile- Did you ever listen to Handsome, the band Peter was in after Helmet?
Avatar 2:49pm
Cecile:

I didn't because I pretty much hated all music that wasn't GBV, jazz or hip-hop by then.
Avatar 2:50pm

Were they any good? Loved his guitar sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm

Rory:

This one of those shows when Diane is on fire and you have to stand back in awe and realize how lucky you are that you're one of the lucky ones that know about and listen to WFMU.
Avatar 2:53pm
Diane Kamikaze:

I liked them at first, but all in all, no they weren't very good. Alternative hardcore with hooks, sorta. Vocals killed it for me, from what I remember.
Avatar 2:54pm
Cecile:

ew. sounds like I can pass on revisiting them.

this last song was a JAM.

Only Death Is Real!
Avatar 2:57pm
Diane Kamikaze:

KFHP: Nope. They have an annoying method of booking about 25% of the bands, waiting til it sells out and then booking the rest. I went on the first 2 and wouldn't rule out going again, but the first 25% on the ones I didn't attend were not compelling enough. A couple did of course, bite me in the ass (adding Carcass last year, sigh!), but this sight unseen thing is a little lame considering it's a full blown vacation (cost wise)
Avatar 2:59pm
V Priceless:

thanx DK - cheers!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Diane - Yeah, that sounds kind of cheesy.
