I confess. I confess to everything. I killed Mary Tyler Moore. I sold ammunition to John Wilkes Booth. I planted the demolition charges in the twin towers and I forgot the Maine. That flood that one time that swept away those people – that was me.

Guess who left the toilet seat up last night. Go ahead, guess. Yeah, that's right.

I'll sign whatever you want. Just take me back to my cell and let me watch my programs.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
mrdonutsu:

In the mid-80s I was working for The Landsburg Company - who you may know from such TV hits as That's Incredible, Those Amazing Animals and the feature film Jaws 3 - 3D.

At one point they were trying to develop a sitcom around Shelly Winters (The Shelly Show, natch) and I got the pleasure of dropping off and picking up stuff from Shelly personally.

Her house was really freaky - she had busts all over the living room on shelves of what I can only assume were all her former Hollywood lovers.

One time I had to pick up some sort of contractual paperwork from her and she couldn't find it and got all stressed out.

"Oh no, this is getting to be like reality..."

Needless to say, Shelly was not up to the rigors of sitcom production and I'm not even sure if the pilot ever got completed.

Good times!

Avatar 🎸 4:33pm

exactly. Just based on the stills from the recent Grammy awards thing representing what's not dated (not having seen the show, to be fair), I'll stick to dated. And this. Certainly this.

I was at a dinner party and they turned the Grammys on. Most (not all) of the songs were ultra-whiney crap.
Avatar 4:38pm

"she's a model" works pretty well on 12 string guitar, by the way.
Avatar 4:39pm

"Ultra-whiney crap." Pretty much sums up the mainstream today.

Kendrick Lamar and the opening scene from Hamilton were great. I don't like Taylor Swift, but I have to admit her opening number was well-presented. Didn't see the other stuff.
Avatar 4:52pm
Swan_Gone:

I liked Tay Tay's acceptance speech.
Avatar 4:53pm
Cecile:

The Grammys are like a stopped clock. Occasionally what I like and the public actually likes lines up with them. they have always been this way. In the 50s they ignored black music, in the 60s rock, in the 70s funk and punk, and on and on and on until the breaka breaka dawn.
Avatar 4:54pm
Cecile:

Didn't watch that, but Lin-Manuel Miranda's and Kendrick's were great. Lin-Manuel's even rhymed.
Avatar 4:57pm

Grammys have always been mainstream. This doesn't seem like a mostly mainstream group.

@cory awesome, somebody with $280 million net worth and somebody else with an $145 million net worth getting into to a feud because Kayne said something about Swift 2 years ago. Ahhh, rich celebrity problems.
Avatar 5:02pm
Cecile:

I thought they should have just had Michael C. Hall and the cast of Lazarus sing "Lazarus" like they did on Colbert. It's one of his best songs, and it sums up his life. Otherwise, it should have been a clip show narrated by someone. I like GaGa, but I didn't really like that.

Gaga's okay - but doesn't it just point up that people like Bowie did all that 4o years ago already - w/ inestimably more substance?
Avatar 5:12pm
Cecile:

I have to agree. I'd rather just someone with a great voice sit at a piano and do Bowie songs. Which could have been her! Just have her sitting in the white suit playing piano. Let the songs speak, because who is going to outdo Bowie for spectacle?

It was Hollywood Vampires (Johnny Depp Cooper, Duff from GNR, Joe Perry) doing one of their songs, and then going into Ace of Spades. I like them all in differing amounts, and if I saw the Vampires in a club, I'd have a good time. But their version was so slow and weary. It wasn't embarrassing, but it could have been so much better.
