Enron staff used to go to Lanesplitter at University/San Pablo I sat at a table in back and heard two of them scheming to 'import' power from a mothballed military base in CA to CA
Avatar 2:19pm
InBrkly:

Yeah it was a bit of a departure from Twitch and earlier haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

@InBrkly: but also in terms of hybridizing Industrial with a punk/metal edge. I remember hearing 'Thieves' on the radio - only being vaguely aware of Ministry at that point - and practically running out to find it immediately. I hadn't heard anything so aggressively cool for years at that point, it seemed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Rich in Washington:

They were so influential, up to a point. So many great and lesser bands owe them a debt of gratitude for synthesizing such a great sound to rip off.
What the hell happened to them, though?
Avatar 2:27pm
Cecile:

I think drug problems and anxiety did them in.

I still have a hard time with them. It's hard to erase "Halloween" from your brainpan.

I missed Ministry's sweater and mascara era altogether. I was just barely aware of them, but went backwards through their discography as far as I could stand.
I did like Twitch, even thoug it was at the time derided as a shameless, late-era Cabaret Voltaire ripoff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm

@Cecile: I think you're right about the drugs and anxiety part, though. Also, the departure of Paul Barker seemed to have cemented their place in crap aggro metal hell.
