Dino Valenti -- the least loving of anyone who ever used the word "love" in a song ever. And yet, one of the most successful.

pacific standard simon:

ONE OF the least loving, I probably should have said.

I wonder what would have happened if David Crosby had joined Quicksilver Messenger Service instead of Dino Valenti?
Avatar 3:41am
Jeff Conklin:

They would've had better songs

In 1970, KQED TV San Francisco was simulcasting Bill Graham produced concerts with FM radio stations in San Francisco. That's where I first heard QMS, and also the news that Janis Joplin had died. My Beatles/Ed Sullivan moment.

John in Texas:

About 20 years ago, I remember hearing a story about David Crosby recording a few songs into a hand held tape recorder while doing his stretch at the Wynn Unit in Huntsville, Texas. Anyone know if those saw the light of day?

...this Neil feller write purtygood - he done it much?
...& 'High Time' is Garcia-Hunter? The Dead being their own SubCulture have begun to be written into the rest of Rawk/Music History - but still not quite enuff? Yerknow - the Dead can't play, write or sing or record...despite much evidence. When great FolkRawk or CountryRawk is broached - is 'American Beauty' presented? How is that not a fine fine album? 'cetera...
