I just heard the news minutes ago. But I am thankful as there are few better ways to celebrate Merle than by listening to one of my favorite radio programs in commemoration.

P-90:

I was at the Iridium club in midtown a few years back, for Les Paul's regular Monday night gig. Musicians visiting town would often turn up there, often jump onstage and banter with Les, maybe do a number of two with the band. Merle walked in (with Keith Richards and Paul Shaeffer in tow), he came up and played and sang, and spoke a little about his admiration for Les. He was digging being in the big city, and just amazed that everyone knew who he was... Something you never forget.
