Avatar 12:27pm Dr. Goot:

Yes, yes it is.
  12:27pm Steve:

Three Chord Monte is rocking The Pyramid today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm chris:

i think i may have just been introduced to my new personal anthem. thanks, Joe!
  12:33pm Polyus:

@Joe - yes! I thought that was a big oversight with that Transatlantic Feedback also. No mention of the events and people that got them playing again.
Avatar 12:36pm Joe B:

guess they couldn't get everything in. they did film me interviewing the Monks at the record fair in 1999 but it didn't make the cut. i think there is a clip of them at the fair but not during the interview
Avatar 12:40pm Scraps deSelby:

H ' lo Joe, h ' lo people. At live-in rehab, and Three Chord Monte doesn’t let me comment. Rather than just let you be, I'm commenting with my phone: little little Three Chord Monte! H'lo!
Avatar 12:42pm Scraps deSelby:

"doesn't let me comment" with my IPad, I mean
  12:57pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

  12:59pm andy in berlin:

great show today, Joe! loved the kinks covers, too!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Uncle Michael:

Evidently a pal of mine rated a passing mention in Trouble Boys. Todd Newman...
  1:12pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

MATS!!!!!!!!!

Great stuff! Go!
  1:18pm SeanG:

HELL YEAH!! ROCK ON!
  1:20pm Ignore Function:

Good interview with Bob Mehr on the Kreative Kontrol podcast. Can't wait to Joe's interview.
  1:20pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

1234 huh!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm doctorjazz:

This sounds like a cross of Mats and the B-52's...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm coelacanth:

i've got to go. Thanks Joe! Rock is obviously NOT dead!
ciao.
  1:22pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

Early mats best mats
  1:22pm Amy:

Yay, Buck Hill! I always loved that the Mats' answer to surf music was ski music. (Buck Hill is a skiing spot in the Mpls. suburbs.)
Avatar 1:23pm Joe B:

Buck Hill always kinda reminded me of Love Tractor
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Uncle Michael:

Lay it down, clown.
  1:24pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

Weeeeeeee!l!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm doctorjazz:

  1:25pm fdny john:

best replacements set ever on 'fmu. of all time!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Uncle Michael:

"Down on all fives..." so great.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Sean from Bridgeport:

This is making my afternoon!
  1:27pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

They used very Wierd chord structure on buck hill and other early songs with that ringing tone
  1:28pm Amy:

One of the best moments of my life ever was seeing a bored, tired Paul get up on stage at Liberty Lunch in Austin for soundcheck, completely kill this song, and then sit down again saying, "Ain't it boring?"
  1:29pm Amy:

@Joe B. Yes, definite Love Tractor influence there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm doctorjazz:

Have to check me out some Love Tractor.
  1:32pm ?:

This is the mondayest damn Monday ever. Especially grateful today for it containing TCM... Cheers Joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Michael 98145:

we're all aging at the same rate, but those 32 years sure went by fast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm fred:

I love The Replacements, so that was a real treat. But I'll always love The Blake Babies' take on Temptation Eyes better
  1:33pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

My most memorable moment was when I earnestly thanked Paul for the pick he'd given me after a show a few weeks earlier and he responded in front a bunch of my friends and local rock luminaries that "I've never seen you before in my goddam life"
  1:35pm Amy:

@Tomophobic Tom: that was Paul's sense of "humor," for sure.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Stevel:

Amy: My favorite Westerberg moment was watching the Replacements kill a set circa '83. the crowd was chanting "More!, More!" PW walked by the mike and muttered the sarcastic negative of the time, "Pul-ease." Walked off.
  1:37pm fdny john:

westerberg signed a friend's guitar, "hang it up loser".guy's a genius.
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

great stories and comments re the replacements. really looking forward to next week's show with bob mehr!
Avatar 1:40pm Scraps deSelby:

I tried to like the Replacements, because so many of my friends liked them. Two awful, drunk shows convinced me that I just don't get them. Ordinary rock, with bad personalities. (To me, to me, to me.)
Avatar 1:41pm Joe B:

I hear ya scraps
  1:41pm Amy:

I've got a bunch of good Mats memories, but I'll save them for next week. :-)

Meanwhile, this set is totally floating my boat.
Avatar 1:42pm Scraps deSelby:

(That was the Hootenanny Replacements; I know they were different and many people say better afterwards)
  1:47pm Bill in W.O.:

Scraps POV on the Replacements reminds me of a great Tommy Womack song on the subject. Too bad you didn't catch one of the good nights.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm fred:

@Scraps: How is rehab going? I was really worried about your fall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Michael 98145:

Maybe i like them cuz i never saw them live.
Avatar 1:50pm Scraps deSelby:

Slowly but definitely better. Probably going to be a month more, but my therapists are saying probably 100% heal. Thank you for asking.
  1:54pm PJ:

On a good night, the Replacements were the best band in America. I saw one trainwreck show (1984), three fantastic shows (1985, 1987, 1989), and one good/ok show (1991).
  2:00pm Amy:

@Joe, don't even try with that Danish band.
  2:05pm dj:

The magic of the Mats was that it made me feel like I could do the same thing they were doing. PW n CO made me feel like I belonged on stage, destroying my guitar and my voice. None of the bands today make me feel that way. None of the British bands do either. The Mats were more punk than punk. Fruck I miss 'em.
  2:05pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Happy Monday Joe!! Once again, you're gettin' me thru.....
Avatar 2:08pm Sean B.:

Another great show for the books JOE!. Long live the MATS!. I am very pleased they didn't recruit Axl Rose to play the triangle for them.
  2:09pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

OMG this is GREAT!
Avatar 2:11pm Joe B:

thanks Sean and Sissophonic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm fred:

@Sean B.: What kind of lame-ass band would hire Axl Rose as a fill-in? Whoops, I see, now
Avatar 2:17pm geezerette:

Hilarious!
Avatar 2:18pm Sean B.:

So glad you have been playing Massenger @Joe B Their first full length self titled is their best though...i think. @Fred I loved Ac/Dc, I think their last good album was For Those About To Rock...and that was a long time ago. Fiveash will probably never play Ac/Dc again....probably out of protest. They were a great band.
Avatar 2:19pm Sean B.:

....Yes a great rock and Roll band.
Avatar 2:19pm Joe B:

thanks for the tip - will check the older massanger stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm fred:

@Sean B: a great blues band too, just playing it faster, but yeah, they've been irrelevant for years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Power Papi:

Man, the Figgs are a great band. I wish they would play the west coast...
  2:39pm Bill in W.O.:

Seattle and Portland dates in early June, PP. Check their site thefiggs.net Looking forward to Saturday night!
Avatar 2:40pm Marc Francis:

Great set Joe! Perfect for this snowy birthday in cold ass Montreal.
Avatar 2:43pm Sean B.:

This ones for you JOE : www.youtube.com... AND: massenger.bandcamp.com... enjoy!. Can't wait for the interview next week!. Take care Joe and thank you.
  2:44pm Bluesman:

Joe - what a great and varied selection of songs today! Every tune is hitting me. My Monday is going much better!
  2:45pm Bill in W.O.:

Thanks for the John Moremen news, Joe, and as ever for the great show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm fred:

The Stooges really made a difference
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Another great show almost in the books , Mr B.
Avatar 🎸 2:53pm Joe McG:

Can't wait for new Bangles comp!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Michael 98145:
