Creepy sad: The same day Gilli's news broke, I got delivery of the last LP with Daevid (i see you) -- had it ordered for a while. Synchronicity..?

The first time I heard Fabio play a cut from this Cabaret Voltaire record a few years ago, I said "I gotta get that!" Sure enough, I was at a big record sale that following weekend, and there it was. I haven't seen a copy since, so it was one of those weird serendipitous moments.

P-90:

Toots was a GIANT man, totally under-appreciated for his many, many great recordings, one of those cats who everyone's heard play, very few know his name. Did a lot of big-time sessions for popular records and movies, but has uber-serious cred among Jazz musicians, etc

I didn't know about the Midnight Cowboy theme until just now, but I love that style of harmonica playing and it's nice to attach the name to it. Really evocative of a place and time.

Yeas, Bettie unfortunately is gone. And she was always a devout Christian, and it is a misconception that she ever "disavowed" her pin-up work. She stopped doing it, but she never renounced it, she was proud of it and always said it was nothing to be ashamed of.
