Joe McG:

@Jeff: "Blue Prelude" is kind of the earlier version of "Good-bye," both written by Gordon Jenkins. What a song, in any version.

I get a lot of grief from saying I like Frank Sinatra and Dolly Parton

@fred - just put on another fmu t-shirt and know in your heart that you actually think about the music you listen to and like...

@fred: I always like to think that its none of my business what other people think of the music I like.

One of the few days I get to hear Avant Ghetto live and the man is off today. Bah.

MD:

My Dad, as a young Man, had seen Billie live enough that he got to know her and would say hello.
He even would buy her a drink now and then. To transfer all his old 78's was at times quite moving...I MEAN THESE WERE MY POP'S RECORDS! WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS AND FEELS LIKE!!!!

Jeff:

@MD: True. And so amazing that he had a saying-hello-and-sometimes-drink-buying relationship with Billie Holiday!

Apologies for the audio-nerdery, but please tell me that if you're taking the trouble to record all those records, you're recording in some lossless format (FLAC or WAV or AIFF or ALAC or the like)! The worst case would be MP3, which has terrible trouble with sharp impulses (like, you know, surface noise on records).

While he was born in England, he is/was Canadian and lived in Toronto. He had local airplay (probably a Can Con thing) in the '70s and had a hit with "All Things Come From God"
