A couple things I'd like to know about Todd-o-phonic Todd: Does his phone answering machine or his stationery letterhead say "Pow Pow Pow"? I'd like to think the answer is yes to both.

I hate this Jonathan song. His use of "dere" and "dis" with that faux-whatever accent -- ugh. I do, however, endorse and practice his tipping tips.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am

The mailman left us a card with his name this year; not a particularly subtle hint. Living in an apartment house, we always tip the building staffers. It's only three guys, but I know people who live in these big buildings where the people to be tipped run well into two figures. For them, it's kind of like meeting a payroll.

Hello Michael, watched the Montclair interview. Totally agree about people talking at gigs, same over here, specially in London where they think they are so cool. So rude. Short attention spans. Me. me, me. Drives me mad. And the mobiles. It is maybe ninety minutes and there is nothing like live music as you well know. The memory can last for years. Their loss.

Michael, were The Wondermints backing Brian Wilson when you saw him. Got mixed feelings as it seems to have stymied their own career by supporting him.

Love to go to NRBQ tonight (or tomorrow), but my daughter is in the ensemble of Sister Act in Westchester (shameless plug-www.facebook.com... )
Would love to see them with Marshall Allen and Danny Thompson, oh well...(never seen them, on the bucket list as of today).
Talking at concerts and clubs drives me absolutely bonkers-I don't get why you bother trying to shout over performers, wouldn't it be easier to just shout over the sound system of a restaurant?

  11:42am
outofluck70:

Mr. Shelley: could you elaborate on what was so awful about the Grateful Dead? I do not have a dog in this fight, I last went 20+ years, they seemed like pleasant enough fellows, music didn't make me ill. Off night for them?

Listener Baby:

This song's title has new meaning in the 21st century. Baby.
  11:46am
Listener Schned:

As a former Club Waiter, paid on salary, Christmas tips made a true difference. And being raised in a suburb of Brooklyn, the family always gifted the Mailman and Sanitation (and a small amount to the Church).
So I brought those customs with me to my NYC apartment life, including extra "pour-bois" for restaurant people who took care of us regularly.
Until, say 10 years ago: alongside a serious bout of under-employment, and the Mailman leaving that obnoxious (and unlawful) hint-hint card, and building management going with a p/t super, the tipping has fallen by the wayside.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am

As an old Dead Head, I can say you never knew what you would get when you heard them (could have been how they were doing on the evening's drugs). Some days, WOW! But I remember Jerry being a full measure behind the rest of the band for a chorus of Sugar Magnolia once at the Garden, and if you listen to any of the recorded concerts, errors/bad stretches are certainly not rare in the shows.
