Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hi! We've made it through another week of the thing.

That was just a week?!

Oy. Don't get me started... Or maybe don't let me stop!

Dean:

Is drummer Stefan related to the composer Alexander Tcherepnin?

malinki kahuna mele:

I was about to ask the same thing..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
weinstein:

Son of the musical electronics inventor Serge I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
weinstein:

Serge and Alex were brothers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
weinstein:

I'm wrong. Ivan's son. And some of these people are still living.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
weinstein:

So after completely misleading you, yes. Stefan is Alexander's son. And he is deceased.
  2:22pm
Dean:

Looks like Stefan and Sergei are Alex's grandsons, Ivan's sons. That makes chronological sense.

On another topic, Yale Law School has mounted an exhibit of old legal texts that feature animals. The exhibit title? "Woof, Moo & Grrr."

That Owen Gardner reminded me of Remco Scha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm

Hmm. Haven't heard that name in a while. And did not know he died.

This Ashcan Orchestra performance is smoking.

Hi Doug. Hi everybody. I just tuned in -- I need a soundtrack to do some writing. I'm enjoying this Ashcan Orchestra. Very cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm
weinstein:

Thanks everybody. I'm not sure how much Ashcan Orchestra is available on demand but I know there is some if you want to continue to immerse yourself in Spadine brain. Heading out with Sun Ra, so that should inspire as well...

Wendy del Formaggio:

Thanks, David. I love the format of your show.
I'll try to tune in earlier next time if I'm able... and there's always the archives...

Hey, did everyone catch the debut of Continental Subway on the stream yesterday? It was a spectacular success. The archive is now available! wfmu.org...
