Does that goddamn piece of crap Mr. Softee jingle that dominates NYC (or s. Bklyn, anyway) have a name? I hate it! Mayuko over on the Drummer Stream themed an entire show a few weeks ago around the supposed mafia-esque ice cream truck wars taking place in NYC : Mr Softee v. Master Softee (an excuse to play a bunch of songs about ice-cream). The very next week though I heard a truck here in Maryland playing the theme from the Godfather...

I don't live in Chicago, but there is a Zdzislaw Bekinski exhibit at the Polish Museum of America happening through early September - trying to get down there for it myself. @Liz: my wife LOVES Chicago. She would likely recommend the Chicago River Architecture Tour, where you get in a ferry-type boat and cruise the river listening to surprisingly interesting commentary. She also has an evolving checklist of restaurants--the Chicago food scene is reportedly dope.

Dear Liz Berg (as opposed to "@"), speaking of Takashi Murakami, I believe he is the uncredited direct influence on the current style of "super flat" graphics so ubiquitous now that Apple has applied it to their OS. Remember when everything had to be all 3-D and drop shadowed? KILLED. Now it's got to be flat and lovely!
