@geezerette: I actually listened to a decent interview with Frank Herbert. It basically spoils the plot but gets into his motivations. And honestly? He’s another one of these sci-fi authors obsessed with feudal societies and I can’t stand that crap… “House of Blah” and “Kingdom of Nothing.” Bleagh to it all.

Avatar 6:59pm

Same here, except the interview part. Won't read sci-fi that consists of completely made up vocabularies not rooted in any actual language to create a sense of exotic mystery that's otherwise absent. Either.

@geezerette: In Dune the drug “Melange” (aka: “Spice”) comes from the giant worm shit. And the “Water of Life” comes from drowing baby worms (!!!) and then making them vomit that water just before they die.

I can’t read bullshit like that. Worm shit and baby worm puke.

Mayor Frank- this is a true story: Back in the late 70's a squad of your MC police harassed me in Philly when I went there on my Yamaha 500 specifically to see The Last Waltz movie. Because is was never going to be shown in Richmond VA.
Thank God I was a white kid, or I mightn't have survived.
