@DanBodah: Was doing some nostalgia digging on David Lynch’s “Dune” and wonder if anyone in DJ culture has mixed that vocal weapon—or the words used to trigger in—in some way.

@Jake, great idea!

Dan, have you seen the video of Tuvan singers, the chieftains, and Johnny guitar watson, together in Frank zappas home? it was on YouTube...

btw, Baby Gramps kicks ass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Dan Bodah:

Baby Gramps: one of the few American roots musicians using throatsinging. The only others I can think of are the obscure, 1-song musician Arthur Miles ("Lonesome Cowboy") and arguably some blues "moan" singers -- Paul Pena made that connection explicit, but it's implicit with Howlin' Wolf & Captain Beefheart at times. Who else? Anyone? I guess there's also Tim Eriksen, who incorporates thoatsinging into some old-timey pieces.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
Dan Bodah:

@St Joe, nope, thanks! I will look that up.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm

The band is basically Akron/Family, who set up in the studio as various lead musicians came through town to record these shanties with them
