I had such a hard time seeing The Smithereens. It was like an on going joke. I had friends who didn't like them and had seen them multiple times. FINALLY about 2 years ago I saw them play at a WNTI festival.

And I've read accounts of them covering all types of music that you wouldn't expect. The whole band was so versatile, and Pat's vocals could just go anywhere and envelop you, from Black Sabbath to the Beatles.

@herb.nyc, this record Angel Rat is very rock, as is Outer Limits, they have a lot more thrash on War and Pain and Killing Technology and ROAR, then get more prog into Nothingface and Dimension Hatross (prog for a thrash band, certainly not regular prog). Phobos and Negatron have a little more mechanical sounds - not quite industrial, but closing in on the realm. There's more, but those are the best defined records...
