  6:23pm Xtina:

Maybe it was the crackling but that was a comfy first set
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Bas NL:

Sanullim.. Great psych track!
Avatar 6:25pm Andrew S:

yeah great track indeed
Avatar 6:28pm TDK60:

Rob, we WFMUers can handle any "inaccessible" show thrown at us. // Anyone watching the winter Olympics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Rob W:

I know, you're a hardy bunch. I enjoyed the Olympic mixed doubles curling this afternoon as I was prepping my show, very inspirational!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Bas NL:

This WFMUer doesn't have a TV..
Avatar 6:37pm Harry Skyr:

some north korean songs?
Avatar 6:38pm Andrew S:

Whats on the charts in N. Korea these days anyway?
Avatar 6:39pm Harry Skyr:

I don't know but something that Kim Jong-un likes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Layet Johnson:

This is a great song!!!
Avatar 6:41pm TDK60:

Good for you, Bas! Me neither but a roommate does. I watched some of the skating. I should check out the curling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Rob W:

There is a North Korean radio aircheck comp on Sublime Frequencies I think but I may or may not get to it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doobois:

The top 10 of the North Korea music chart is, in order, volumes one through 10 of "Now That's What Kim Jong-Un Calls Music!"
Avatar 6:47pm Harry Skyr:

Thanks, Roib.
Avatar 6:50pm Harry Skyr:

Sounds peaceful.
Avatar 6:51pm TDK60:

Is this the Gayageum? (stringed instrument). Wonderful. And that kazoo-meets-sax one?
Avatar 6:52pm Harry Skyr:

I wish we could be happy as the people in NK
Avatar 6:53pm Andrew S:

I dont find this inaccessible at all, it's as interesting as every other week. If you had of gone all k-pop on us then yes it would be for me but I knew that wasnt going to happen :)
Avatar 7:00pm TDK60:

We're rockin'..
Avatar 7:06pm Andrew S:

very cool this Yesanjok
Avatar 7:11pm TDK60:

Wikipedia's entry on trad Korean instruments shows many.
  7:12pm Ike:

This show is a heck of a lot better than anything the International Org of Corruption is slapping together w/doped-up athletes, IMHO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Rob W:

Oh bu the Curling players are clean, I promise you that Ike, no stone has been left unturned! Or at least, unswept...
Avatar 7:18pm Andrew S:

curling is all about the touch, it's very difficult, you dont want to be roided up. You barely let the stone float out of your hand or else it will go nearly through the wall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm katie:

curlers are also the only athletes that regularly discuss drinking beer. For what that's worth.
Avatar 7:22pm Andrew S:

there was a canadian band i used to go se a lot clled the dik van dykes who had a very funny song called curling
Avatar 7:23pm Andrew S:

there's a song about everything :)
Avatar 7:28pm Harry Skyr:

Let's hope that Kim Jong-un will deliver us from evil.
Avatar 7:32pm Andrew S:

The Olympics always have the potential to bring people together amidst the insanity
Avatar 7:33pm TDK60:

Possibly this Rob W. show and the curlers in Korea will inch us toward world peace more than the bureaucrats on high. Maybe.
Avatar 7:33pm glenn:

dik van dykes. from the hammer.
Avatar 7:34pm Andrew S:

from the hammer yep :) spent a lot of time in POttawa in the 80s, i think they flopped here for a bit because they played all the time in the mid maybe late 80s
Avatar 7:35pm Andrew S:

fun as hell live, i think they had another breakoff band after called i love my shih-tsu or something like that, but that nobody likes album is great canadiana
Avatar 7:36pm glenn:

i love my shih tzu is correct.
Avatar 7:36pm Andrew S:

road warrior is THE driving down the 401 song
Avatar 7:38pm Andrew S:

not like there are a lot of them :)
Avatar 7:45pm glenn:

i can't think of any, off the top of my head.
Avatar 7:46pm Andrew S:

haha well then it wins by default but its a great song anyway
  7:49pm Quinn:

Enjoying your playlist in Queens tonight Rob!
Avatar 7:50pm Andrew S:

really great Rob, must take so much dedication mining this stuff, nearly everything I hear is new to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Smilty69:

Wonderful show, Rob! The music is a great background soundtrack for my party. Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Rob W:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm Layet Johnson:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Layet Johnson:

Do they ever perform in NYC by chance Rob?
Avatar 8:16pm Andrew S:

It has inspired me to watch the olympics, which should be getting underway for the day. Seems kinda weird that Korea gets the winter olympics 2 out of the last 6 or 7 times though do they have some wicked mountains or is it just politics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm Layet Johnson:

Thanks! Seeing Lee Go Woon and Lee JinSeol live would be insane...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm Layet Johnson:

Good question, Andrew. Googling Korean topo maps now
Avatar 8:19pm Andrew S:

there are a lot of countries with great winter olympic conditions. 2 out of 7 doesn't seem like spreading it oput. Though as someone who spent half his life in Montreal the Olympics can be a long term money pit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Layet Johnson:

That seems to be the trend for Olympic spending... Would be interesting to see a minimal/sustainable Olympic design contest.
Avatar 8:25pm TDK60:

I think the Korean Peninsula is mainly mountainous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm Layet Johnson:

Do they blow in fake snow for winter olympics ever?
Avatar 8:30pm Andrew S:

I thonk they did in vancouver
Avatar 8:31pm Andrew S:

cant swear to it but usually the machines are running even on the largest hills if there isnt adequate snow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Layet Johnson:

There should be public displays about climate change at the winter olympics if there aren't already.
Avatar 8:32pm Andrew S:

www.theguardian.com...
Avatar 8:34pm Andrew S:

I was at the vancouver olympics. well, more accurately i was in vancouver when they were on, i didnt go to any events but it wass pretty warm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm Layet Johnson:

Curling is cool. Ski slopes probably cause tons of erosion. Basketball is best. Minimal footprint.
  8:38pm Carmichael:

Heya Rob and listeners.
  8:39pm Carmichael:

I lived in Korea in 79-80. Interesting country ...
Avatar 8:41pm Andrew S:

I have a newfound love for basketball. Not much of a sports fan except for baseball but my brother took me to a Toronto Raptors game and I got hooked, its a beautiful game. Im supposed to love hockey I guess but id rather watch paint dry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Rob W:

Hi Carmichael - didn't know you'd lived in Korea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Layet Johnson:

That's funny. I'm a basketball fan primarily, but I want to my first hockey game since I was a kid last night, and it was so much fun. Yale Quinnipiac, big Rivalry.
Avatar 8:44pm TDK60:

Thsnks for a fine show, helped while home sick with cold!
Avatar 8:49pm Andrew S:

I sold a record today to a guy in Norway and he wished me luck to Alex Johnson in the olympics and i was embarrassed because i didnt know who that was.
  8:51pm Carmichael:

Yes Rob, really enjoyed it. Great food, great culture. It was way before K pop, though ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Layet Johnson:

Oh yeah, Alex Johnson, he throws the best snow balls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Layet Johnson:

Thanks Rob, I'm passing this playlist on to all my friends. So much fun tonight.
  8:53pm Carmichael:

Listener north guinea hills also lived there as a teenager. It’s a small world ...
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Bas NL:

Hah yes @Carmichael, Korean food is fantastic!!
Avatar 8:54pm TDK60:

Bas, you're still up there!
Avatar 8:54pm Andrew S:

I had to look him up. But, I at least got to share an olympic story because i knew of jackrabbit johanseen who was norwegian/canadian and he lived til like 110 years old no exaggeration
Avatar 8:55pm Andrew S:

thanks rob, night all :)
  8:56pm Carmichael:

Kimchi, Bas ...:)
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Bas NL:

@TDK60 Yeah it's my every-Saturday nightly pleasure to listen TPSP!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Bas NL:

Oh yes @Carmichael; kimchi is the best!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Bas NL:

Thanks Rob! Very special edition! I loved it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Rob W:
