This is my absolute favorite P.B.S. song.

Hi mb and katharsis. TDK60, I've been a fan of P.B.S. since the early 1970's, but didn't discover this album until much later. Loveliness.

Hello Irene! I'm loving this set. I never really knew P.B.S.'s music. It's setting a nice mood for my evening.

Hey Wendy! Hope you're doing great.

Can someone identify this song from Terrastock? I'm afraid I don't recognize it.

Rocket Man---tells the ending of the Ray Bradbury story. Thanks for the tribute. I remember when Balaclava came out.

P.B.S.'s 1st --One Nation Underground-- is on my select list of several seminal psych albums. They were ahead of the curve. True underground hippy music.

This is a nice interview and tribute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm

I think I knew that, Andrew. TDK60, Tom mentioned taht they'd recorded a few songs in Esperanto but the tapes are lost. If anyone knows if these are available, I'd love to get my Paws on 'em!

I STILL regret not going to that first Terrastock in PVD. My first year at college. I think Twisted Village opened that year and I had heard about it there....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Irene Trudel:

Gooberz, I feel fortunate that I pushed myself to go see Tom those few times, and really enjoyed that whole Terrastock weekend. So many great performances!

This is lovely. First heard Pearls Before Swine a couple of years ago in a local record/vintage shop, wish I bought the album then.

a qwik Penguin Cafe O remark- they were on the 2nd or 3rd New Sounds wnyc program I ever heard, 1984(?). Some years ago, John Schaffer (sp?) hosted music at world financial center. When he left, I told him "I liked the PCO show you did in 1984". I think I still have the cassette.

Thanks Irene. One Nation...was a major album for me in 1997

Good Evening, Irene and everyone!
did not know that Tom Rapp had passed -- ugh -- but loving this tribute, Irene
(i think i was at that Thread Waxing Space event sooooo many years ago! amazing night -- Ghost was there too, right?)

TDK60:

I betcha if we could see setlists of WFMU DJs from, say, 1967-'74, P.B.S./T.R. would be there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
Irene Trudel:

Yes, it certainly is, Andrew. Very glad they went with the version we all know. slugluv, I remember really liking the show at Thread Waxing Space too. Nice loft space that's long gone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Irene Trudel:

You totally know it, TDK60. I think WFMU is where I first heard P.B.S.
Avatar 11:15pm
TDK60:

And he sounds like one of those decent sort of lawyers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Irene Trudel:

Yes, I heard he became a lawyer partly because he wanted to fight to get royalties from ESP-Disk', later fighting to help with civil rights cases.
Avatar 11:27pm
TDK60:

Never heard this comp before. This "Surrealist Waltz" cover is fine; orig. from P.B.S.'s 1st, a secret psychedelic gem. Don't tell anyone.
  11:29pm

show me a decent lawyer and i'll believe it. perilous mouths.

oooo i LOVE "For The Dead In Space" -- THANK-YOU, Irene!
and oh gosh, YES! Thread Waxing Space was wonderful (when i was listening earlier -- had just tuned in and i was thinking whaaaa?? Thread Waxing Space is still around???)
ahhh the 1990s -- so many great spaces like that still around . . .
speaking of that first Pearls Before Swine LP -- i found it at the thrift shop around the corner from me here in Hoboken for like 50¢, maybe a dollar?? (also mid/late 1990s)
unfortunately -- as with many of my things -- i loaned it to someone, never got it back (but, was a DJ friend, so hopefully he is still enjoying it, wherever he is)
(and believe it or not, that thrift shop is still here!)
i think i first heard Pearls Before Swine on WNEW-FM, waaay back in the 1970s and probably way late at night!
