I'm curious if he's read "Astral Weeks: A Secret History of 1968" and what he thinks of it if he has. Maybe try and get him to riff on Boston in 1968. I know he's talked about VU a lot, but the book puts that whole scene in a different kind of perspective.

Marty Stuart and his band played a free show in a park for 4th of July just a few years ago here in my lil town in Oregon. It was a really good show, such a great band!

For Jonathan: At most music performances today, audience members chat during the show, sometimes about the music, sometimes otherwise. At your performances, (at least those I have recently seen,) the audience is markedly silent. why do you think that is?

mic placement and eq would have a huge effect, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm

Michael, that's mainly about how they play the snare. You gotta hit it so that you're getting the head as well as the rim at the same time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Goyim in the AM:

Tuned tight and played by the rim, yeah. Compare Bill Bruford's snare in Yes and King Crimson.

How many people have read Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee or any other thorough historical account of the ruthless occupation and expansion of the United States? Its a pretty loaded question. I think the Unified DAPL protests by the Indigenous People is a clearer example of what those sports symbols also represent.
Avatar 12:44pm
Michael Shelley:

I have read Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee , and everything you say is true - we really have never owned what we did to the native Americans - which is exactly why the results of the research are so interesting

Is this a later version of the original single? Overdubbed? I don't recall the electric guitar and bongoes. Not an improvement, I must say.

Mark R:

Re rock steady snare sound: there were only a few record producers at the time in Jamaica, most using the same house band, and many/most records were produced by Leslie Kong (the track you played sounded like his production). Perhaps the similar snare sound is the result of a single producer and maybe the same drum kit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
