tim from Champaign:

Advice I’ve found most helpful for buying a car: be prepared to walk away. If you go in determined to leave with something, you may wind up feeling pressured into a deal you’re not happy with. But if you go in prepared to walk away, you potentially have more leverage. Hope this helps and sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week.

Avatar 11:42am

Dave - if you listen to the albums as a whole I think you get a different picture. And as Seymour Stein pointed out - the songs are really good and that counts for a lot. I'd say they are heavily inspired - and since they're inspired by one of my all time favorites - that's good!

I used True Car to buy my car in 2014, and I was happy with my price and experience. I've done more reading about True Car since and got some ideas about doing even better. But do a little reading about True Car, it might be a good fit for you even if you don't go strictly with their dealer(s).
  11:52am
longish:

I recently bought a car. After first dealership effort, I realized the three-to-four hour session is completely unnecessary. Sales staff do not need to leave to consult with manager, or look up info — it’s a ploy to wear down the buyer. Don’t tolerate it. Tell them you only have a 1/2 hour — sell me a car within that time or I leave. Good luck!
  11:54am
JakeGould:

@longish: Right! All sales techniques basically hinge on you investing so much time that you feel you must make a decision because of that. Cars and real estate live and breathe off of that thinking.
  11:55am
JakeGould:

Anyway, hope all works out of all. And I hope it becomes less humid today in NY/NJ. Holy crap is it nasty!

Work friend told me about car brokers, who sell and leave cars at the fleet rate. Our guy said use the broker he can't possibly come close. New car was $1800 below dealer invoice. No sure if I'm allowed to post the name, but just look for lease or auto brokers (most are in Brooklyn and Satan Island), and avoid those charging a fee. Best is they deliverer to your house.
