Stop in Rochester and check out the Strong Museum of Play! It's a fantastic collection of toys and leisure themed exhibits for all ages. Also consider visiting both sides of Niagara Falls. The American Side has the beautiful Goat Island area...a naturalistic approach and vantage point. The Canadian side is beautiful too, but it's more European/Manicured gardens/plantings. Try to see both and make up your own mind.

Canada always to me, seemed more cool than Detroit but I feel like being so close to Canada made Detroit more cool. Maybe that's not a popular opinion. Kids in the Hall are from Toronto! That's just a little example of what I think of Canadians. They have an elevated sense of humor. I love Canada!

If hydropower's your thing, the Robert Moses Niagara Power Station has a great exhibit www.nypa.gov... Or if architecture is of interest Buffalo is the only US city with surviving works by our 3 greatest, H.H. Richardson, Louis Sullivan, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Best wings (not Buffalo Wings, since they can't fly) are at Duff's, which is all over Western NY and a few in TO. Ontario Science Center is the prototype for such places. CN Tower touristy but worth it.
