"... have broken out of prison with less moxie."
I bow down.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:30pm DonJuanTijuana:

This is so freakin AWESOME! Edison & Bob Bert in the house!!!
  1:30pm John from Florham park:

With Charlie watts I get the feeling he was not the drug taker that Keith and mick to a lesser degree were
Avatar 1:32pm Carmichael:

Charlie is older and came from a jazz background. I'm sure he sneers at the long-haired junkies.
  1:34pm John from Florham park:

Carmichael Charlie is 78 and still going strong
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm crateslinger:

This guy sounds like Jonesy.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm tim from champaign:

I just realized that Bryan Gregory of the Cramps looks like Charlie Watts today.
  1:38pm John from Florham park:

@Crateslinger Jonsey is mussed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm coelacanth∅:

Mitch followed Jimi, and perfectly.
  1:39pm John from Florham park:

I meant jonesy is missed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm crateslinger:

No worries JfFP. Sweet dreams.
Avatar 1:47pm Hubig Pie:

Did Brian Jones sit this one out?
Avatar 1:49pm thecarvelsnyc:

Great to hear from our pal Mr. Edison. Mr. Pang wants you to know he loves the book.
Charlie Watts has the best posture of any drummer in rocknroll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm coelacanth∅:

(except Max Weinberg!)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:57pm tim from champaign:

Not only does Jim Price do a great 1 minute radio show but he ripped it up pretty good with the Stones.
Avatar 1:57pm Carmichael:

Prairie Prince has some good posture as well.
  1:58pm Eric Speck:

This is a great show. Love that recording of Bitch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

hahaha! "earned" it! that was all them!
  2:08pm Christy D:

Wish I could be rocking in the studio with u lads!!! Fantastic interview and show!!
  2:09pm Bob a:

I concur too.
Avatar 🎸 2:11pm David Shortell:

@Mark in Toronto
I don't know who played the bartender in "Joe", but it wasn't Allen Garfield.
  2:11pm mike:

this has been an excellent show, really good interview and real glad to hear from a legend from pussy galore. can't wait to read the book!
  2:11pm Bob a:

Beatles were, Stones are. That’s my score.
Avatar 🎸 2:17pm David Shortell:

I saw Bob Bert and Mike Edison appear at the late, lamented Raconteur Books in Metuchen several years ago. I can't remember the reason for their appearance though.
  2:20pm Frank Zaatar:

Yeah, but the Beatles were working-class and the Stones were middle-class.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Parq:

What he's saying is exactly why I'm always uncomfortable when kids today like the bands that their parents liked.
  2:22pm SeanG:

that's a good show
  2:24pm Ajax:

Oh brother. Rock as a generational affront is so wrong-headed. Rock is a explanation of the universe through evil and sexuality, and as much as kids don't want to think about their evil sexy parents that's just tough luck!
Avatar 2:24pm Hubig Pie:

Sound the goat alarm
  2:24pm Ajax:

Also: great show!
  2:25pm Toothgrinder Tom:

I like the Stones and all but the songs John and Paul wrote are an achievement that overshadows anything the Stones ever did
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm coelacanth∅:

Etta James' version= the best version.
Avatar 🎸 2:26pm David Shortell:

One of the few cinemas that screened the Stones 1972 tour doc was that crummy Ocean Township theater that closed in the past year. I noticed it credited Chuck Berry for "Bye Bye Johnny" but not Robert Johnson for "Love in Vain".
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm tim from champaign:

Didn't Bo Diddley claim he didn't write Pills?
  2:28pm Frank Zaatar:

I never thought it was a zero-sum game between the Beatles and the Stones. But lately I've been wondering: If we (white) youth of America had been allowed to listen to Muddy Waters, would we have needed the Stones?
  2:31pm johnk77:

good show:>
rip nicky hopkins
who also played on
beatles revolution!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:31pm tim from champaign:

Aw c'mon, She's the Boss....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm coelacanth∅:

let it bleed originally credited some music biz thief for love in vain. to this day those thieves Jagger & Richards take full credit for songs they didn't write.
Avatar 🎸 2:32pm David Shortell:

The Stones recorded "Roll Over, Beethoven" in 1963. I suppose they didn't release it when they discovered that other limey group was releasing their own version that year.
  2:33pm johnk77:

long john baldry
told me he
shagged jagger
  2:36pm Pablo Cruz:

Rolling Stones are amateurs, now and forever. Lennon, Beatle Paul, and Harrison were genius songwriters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm coelacanth∅:

Johnny Thunders replacing Mick Taylor?!
i already knew this guy is delusional but i hope he's not serious!
Avatar 🎸 2:41pm David Shortell:

Blues enthusiast R. Crumb claims to despise the Stones (he says Tommy James and the Shondells were more authentic!). So why did he name one of his characters "Jumpin' Jack Flash"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm coelacanth∅:

many if not most rock n roll songs can be country songs...or punk songs.
there was a local band where i live that played their set, "rock" or rock & roll, as they were known for. took a break came back did the whole first set of songs again, country style...and really good country style. ("alt-country" i guess it'd be called)
Avatar 🎸 2:45pm David Shortell:

When the Stones bought "I Wanna Be Your Man" from Lennon/McCartney, did they know their band was gonna release their own version 2 weeks later?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm coelacanth∅:

i think i read that the beatles weren't going to do that song but they needed to fill out their american version of their first album.

re: R Crumb - marketing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm coelacanth∅:

...the stones' i wanna be your man rules though!
Avatar 2:48pm Hubig Pie:

For my money, nobody tops Mo Tucker's drumming on Sister Ray
  2:51pm sufferwords:

at my start I played along to Exile for 3 months then started a band - learned everything I needed to know from Charlie - 37 years later still making records
  2:51pm Frank Zaatar:

Well, according to Mick, Dirk McQuickly was always hanging around trying to sell them songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Webhamster Henry:

Ooh Kingston Shout-out! Rough Draft is a fine place.
Avatar 🎸 2:54pm David Shortell:

I like to needle the "either/or"-mentalitied "Stones vs. Beatles" people by ranting "They both suck! Kinks rule!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm TheLoneliestMonk:

quite an interview JoeB, i feel like i need a nap now.
that dude has some *manic* energy!
Avatar 2:56pm northguineahills:

Thanks Mike and Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm coelacanth∅:

kinks were Great until sometime in the 70s. 'stones were Great until sometime in the 70s. beatles were Great until they broke up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Joe!
  2:58pm Pablo Cruz:

Beatles STILL sell more records than the Rolling Stones. Even Beatles outtakes and demos outsell Stones' best efforts.
  4:37pm Miss Georgia Peach:

Super Show! Requested Mike Edison's Charlie Watts book from my local library - Thanks, Joe!
