Favoriting November 17, 2019: Tusen takk, Herre Kongshaug
A little over half the show's a tribute to Jan Erik Kongshaug, who died on 5 November 2019, was a musician and self-taught engineer with over 4000 credits, many for the ECM label. We'll highlight his first recordings with Jan Garbarek, Keith Jarrett, and many other greats, and move on from there.

"At the time of the recording, Sinatra's divorce from Ava Gardner had been finalized, and Nelson Riddle (who wrote the album's arrangements) had recently suffered the deaths of his mother and daughter. Of these events, Riddle remarked: "If I can attach events like that to music...perhaps Only the Lonely was the result.""

@ParUbi: I had an interesting conversation with a researcher about machine learning. His take was that Kant's views are more applicable than my Wittgensteinian ones because we can't hope to understand AI extensionally, so idealism is a good way to deal with it. Not sure it helps, but it sure is fun to have more people agree with my view that coding is applied piylosophy

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm

Is the problem that so much of AI development has turned the actual decision making process into something of a black box? Hence, noumenal in Kant's sense?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm

@LL: I got a T-shirt this week with the illustration on the inside. One of a kind thing, but I can't show it up. He did it on purpose, because he thought I'd get it. I love it

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm

@ParUbi: And my job is to do the same, but faster, so I discard all that could happen but won't. Total extensional hammering at ideas, ruining things but also bringing focus. Wittgenstein should be taught in coding schools. Won't happen in France ever
