A friend of mine in the UK(Pete Mitchell) who passed away suddenly earlier this year had the quixotic idea of collecting every piece of vinyl Jame Brown ever released. When I pressed him as to the edge cases, he would start announcing arbitrary criteria. You’re making me think of him.

My little James Brown story. I lived in San Antonio in 72 - 74. Worked in a record store on San Pedro, just south of North Star Mall. I always stocked every James Brown record but we didn't sell any for a year or so until some college students from Africa found the store. They kept coming back for more, making James Brown a solid catelogue and new release seller. When they first found us and what we stocked (all that was in print at that time) they were laughing and singing bits of tunes, great seeing their enthusiasm.

I saw him, too, in Houston at Rockafeller's back in the '90's and the place was really cool. It was a historic building, had been a bank back in the 20's or something. It was like a theater now, very cool place to see him! He had a very long intro, too, I remember, and the cape! haha!
