The following morning I tuned in to all the rock and news stations on the radio. The news was all over the place. Try to "Imagine" how traumatizing it must've been for a young guy at 15.

	1:14pm rich the greeb: So when I was maybe 10? I was up late on probably or a Friday or Saturday night watching a movie on WPIX. I would forever have a image from that movie seared into my mind. It was someone getting their head caught in a record press. It’s hard to say if that influenced both my record and gore horror predilections but it was buried deep. I would occasionally wonder had I really seen that? What was that movie? How was it on broadcast tv? Years later I decided to check out a semi-obscure movie called “ the phantom of the paradise.” I was loving it in all of its bombastic absurdity when there it was!! That scene! It was real! I would like to say it is one of my favorite movies ever on merit alone, but I guess I was a bit prepped in my Brooklyn bedroom. Anyway hope this wasn’t too long.

	1:56pm Marko: I tuned in late, so maybe this was part of your on-air chat, but perhaps surprisingly, Keith Relf was a founder of Renaissance, a band he co-founded with fellow Yardbirds member Jim McCarty and three other members, including keyboardist John Hawken. Their debut album was produced by fellow Yardbirds member Paul Samwell-Smith. The band eventually transformed into the Annie Haslam-fronted ensemble.

Quite a delightful show, complete with a huge, rotating mirror ball installed in the ceiling of the auditorium. That generation of the band was quite a bit different from Relf's.

	2:31pm Marko: Wow, Gerry. Autumn 1977 introduced many of us to Elvis Costello. For the music fans into the rapidly evolving punk and New Wave scene, the late 1970s teemed with artists who created a tremendous gush of notable music. So many commercially succeeded, and so many have been remaindered in our collective memories. In that era, as with you, I'd seen the Annie Haslam version of Renaissance. Decades later, as a journalist, I interviewed her as a preview to the band's appearance at Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair. As Psue notes, great music endures, as she cites Todd's terrific show that included his interview with the Hollies member (whose fame dates from 50+ years ago). And splendid new music always emerges, which is why the playlists of Psue and her WFMU colleagues are essential for listeners like me who need the band names and their tunes. Thanks, Psue, for today's stream of sweet/sour/salty/ (sometimes) bitter songs. Isn't Umani an overlooked band from Hoboken?

	1:14pm rich the greeb: So when I was maybe 10? I was up late on probably or a Friday or Saturday night watching a movie on WPIX. I would forever have a image from that movie seared into my mind. It was someone getting their head caught in a record press. It’s hard to say if that influenced both my record and gore horror predilections but it was buried deep. I would occasionally wonder had I really seen that? What was that movie? How was it on broadcast tv? Years later I decided to check out a semi-obscure movie called “ the phantom of the paradise.” I was loving it in all of its bombastic absurdity when there it was!! That scene! It was real! I would like to say it is one of my favorite movies ever on merit alone, but I guess I was a bit prepped in my Brooklyn bedroom. Anyway hope this wasn’t too long.

	1:56pm Marko: I tuned in late, so maybe this was part of your on-air chat, but perhaps surprisingly, Keith Relf was a founder of Renaissance, a band he co-founded with fellow Yardbirds member Jim McCarty and three other members, including keyboardist John Hawken. Their debut album was produced by fellow Yardbirds member Paul Samwell-Smith. The band eventually transformed into the Annie Haslam-fronted ensemble.

	2:02pm Gerry from Miami: Marko, I saw the Annie Haslam version of Renaissance at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in the fall of 1977. Quite a delightful show, complete with a huge, rotating mirror ball installed in the ceiling of the auditorium. That generation of the band was quite a bit different from Relf's.

For the music fans into the rapidly evolving punk and New Wave scene, the late 1970s teemed with artists who created a tremendous gush of notable music. So many commercially succeeded, and so many have been remaindered in our collective memories. In that era, as with you, I'd seen the Annie Haslam version of Renaissance. Decades later, as a journalist, I interviewed her as a preview to the band's appearance at Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair. As Psue notes, great music endures, as she cites Todd's terrific show that included his interview with the Hollies member (whose fame dates from 50+ years ago). And splendid new music always emerges, which is why the playlists of Psue and her WFMU colleagues are essential for listeners like me who need the band names and their tunes. Thanks, Psue, for today's stream of sweet/sour/salty/ (sometimes) bitter songs. Isn't Umani an overlooked band from Hoboken?
