And to you egould310.9:15am : Bob, I think we were at the same gig. A midnight jam session at Radio City with a ton of players.9:16am : Yes Jeff! I still have the playbill....somewhere.🥁 9:20am : This is a lovely song.9:21am : Love the Duncan Browne track!9:21am : Looks like Duncan is still making cd’s.Firrst time I heard him.9:22am : So great.9:23am : Zoot, sadly, Duncan is long gone9:23am : Yeah Duncan really working them nylon strings for fullness.
...The tragic glory of Gene Clark. (Scorpio brutha.)9:23am : Glad you like Wm. Wondeful singer/writer and one of the smallish group of nylon string guitarists.
Glad you liked bbob.9:23am : Just got the Chris Hillman bio.Should have some interesting tidbits about Gene.9:24am : I'm not familiar with this Gene Clark song. It's killing me- those harmonies and 12 -strings!9:24am : The first third of the Hillman book is a long read. It takes a while to get to the fun parts.9:24am : For a second I thought it said, "Like the wrestlers want up above."9:25am : Zoot, I have to read that.
Glad to enjoyed Joe M.
But worth the read, Bob? Does he dwell on family background or something?🥁 9:26am : Morning!9:26am : Morning WFMU!9:27am : Clint Walker played Cheyenne on the telly?9:27am : Jeff: I see he died 1993.I was looking at re issues🥁 9:28am : I must say, the Gene Clark "Mr. Tambourine Man" book was a depressing read. Took a few days to recover.9:28am : Morning Gina & Crei6hton.
davek, you got it!9:28am : I don't know this series but I love Catherine Keener, this is great.9:29am : Bob - yes - soooo much dwelling on incidental growing-up stories. Ten pages or so on his favorite horse, etc, etc. Some of those details are interesting - ie: the story about the real Old John Robertson, etc - but an editor was def needed. You’ll find yourself skimming, for sure.9:30am : I liked the Hillman book. I was touched by his memories of his Jewish father, Chris’ aversion to racism at an early age, etc. I thought it was well written.9:30am : i thought that was 'the new zoo review'9:33am : @ BB Awaiting the theme music from Sugarfoot!9:40am : Dig, thanks Bob. I'm thinking of Tim White's Beach Boy book with like 300 pages of Wilsons past. OMG!9:42am : Haven't heard Roly Poly in FOREVER!9:45am : ...any Boomer Rawkstar Bio that's not another good bits & then the same awful addiction & rehab is welcome...9:45am : Demanding/calling forth something NOW that has a power about it9:46am : Good morning, Bob. Happy Saturday to you and everyone else here!! Great start to our day. Thank you!!9:46am : Uuhhh...what was the song about the guy who shot and ate his dog! It was suddenly faded out...🥺9:51am : Hey Cacophone Jeff & Alicja Uleshuh.
That record ends like that! I played ~despite~ the plot!9:53am : Oh, it was Roll on mule.9:58am : Morning Bob and listeners!9:59am : Good morning Bob & All. I've said it before and will say it again: can't tell you how happy I am this beautiful and comprehensive free form broadcast is back on the air. Bob, you were missed more than you know. Not only for the music, wit and humor but also for the education and introduction to new artists on a weekly basis. Life is good again. Thank you Bob.10:01am : Hey Corey,
MikeyfromNC, thanks so much!10:02am : Wurd MikeyDC.10:02am : How about Earth Opera ?10:02am : good morning Bob & pals!10:02am : Let me second the remarks from MikeyfromNC. It's so good to hear you on the air again, Mr. Brainen.10:02am : It's like a spinach napoleon, if you're reading this on archive.10:03am : (googles "Spinach Napoleon")10:04am : Plenty of snow up here in Montreal. We've got a couple of feet right now. If the border wasn't closed you could come up and get your fill!10:06am : now I want one!🥁 10:07am : I love your background birdies.10:12am : I saw Mother Earth on New Year’s Eve 68 / 69 at Fillmore East, opening up for The Chambers Brothers.10:16am : Tracy Nelson has made a lot of albums, one with Marcia Ball and Irma Thomas.10:17am : Aftermath just can’t be topped, imho.🥁 10:17am : Mono!10:18am : Top o' the mornin' to you Bob and to all. Docrock sounds like a great show.
Zoot, they're really good.
BPN, we're on same page! ASTOUNDING album!10:20am : Those paragons of top-shelf FolkRawk ...The Rolling Stones.10:20am : Aftermath, like a Brian showcase! All of those different colors he brought to Rock.10:20am : Hey Watchpocket. Mornin'.10:21am : Pisces - like George in that rival unit.10:21am : I still use a pocket watch.10:22am : Great old Rollings tune, that "Waiting."10:22am : Stones were so Socially relevant! No one it seems talks about that. Yeah they were R&B champions... A Stones song would regularly send ripples thru people's lives...10:23am : Teo did more than cut and paste Miles Davis records!10:24am : hi bob10:25am : Btw folks if you haven't checked out Bob's interview (from early 2000s) linked-to at the top of this page, check it out, it's good stuff.10:26am : Yes indeed Jeff, but what an editor: just tape and a razor blade and a big set of ears.
Hey billohara!10:27am : Thanks watchpocket!10:27am : Howdy Dennis!10:28am : @Zoot And every pair of jeans still has its own version of me sewn in! (Amazing they still include that, now that I think about it.)10:29am : I used to stash my hashish in there in a little metal tin from a watchmaker!10:31am : Bob: yeah I put two watches in.One had the guts taken out.10:31am : Hashish ! Especially coming down from acid... fond memories.10:31am : @Bob Perfect place for a little Red Lebanese.10:31am : Hast du Hasch in deinen Taschen, hast du immer was zu gnaschen!10:31am : Keef or Kif?10:34am : Hashish?! That disappeared with the so-called War on Drugs, didn't it?10:34am : I had some ten years ago.10:35am : Loved Keeef's autobio - but Brian gets pretty short schrift. Irks me. To be sure - he was unpleasant & difficult often enuff...10:36am : @TDK: There are more different forms of cannabis available now than ever. Shatter, wax, oil, flowers ... the war was lost, drugs won!10:37am : @TDK60 When I was tripping (in both senses) around Europe, there was only hashish, and no mara-ji-wana. (That was OK, 'cause the hash was plentiful.)10:38am : Yeti, the "war" still lingers on, with tons of folks in prison.10:38am : Kief hashish.Had it Amsterdam.10:39am : Makes explicit it was racist & political all along - not to promote health.10:39am : Rev that pissed me off to no end! My God like 40 years later and Keith still can't give him credit. And Mick & Keith have changed the Stones origin story to glorify themselves. It's a shame. Brian Forever!10:40am : Bobby!!!!10:40am : TDK: Sadly that is true. I was being a bit facetious, just meant that the supply hasn't dried up.10:41am : Howard!!!10:41am : Hohn Saxon sound drop?10:43am : TDK: And the technology has advanced, we now have things like terpene concentrates, and liquid-nitrogen hash, etc. More powerful than ever.10:44am : @Revolution Today is anniversary of Paul Robeson’s passing away10:44am : That were a man.10:45am : Is was and always shall be a man10:45am : Robeson - Amen!10:47am : Paul Robeson did it ALL!10:48am : just one Phil Spector song please!10:48am : ...someone say “liquid nitrogen hash”?10:49am : Yeti, I have yet to visit a cannabis store. No "smart" phone yet. And I still have a cassette deck.10:49am : Guitar solo On Broadway:Phil10:50am : Hey Andrew In Toronto!10:50am : My car has a cassette player.2001 Volvo10:51am : Bob - Thanks for another great show.
