Nikitov plays a live set during the first hour-plus of the show.
Nikitov is an acoustic band - vocal, violin, guitar, double bass - that plays original arrangements of traditional and popular Yiddish songs with Django-esque
flair.
Based in Haarlem, the Netherlands, they fly in for a live FMU set
- plus gigs at the Tea Lounge
on Jan. 10 and Makor on Jan. 17 and showcases at the Arts Presenters conference (APAP) on Jan 20 & 22 -
to help introduce their excellent new cd Vanderlust on Chamsa Records.
Nikitov online: http://www.Nikitov.com or http://www.myspace.com/Nikitov.
Plus at the bottom of hour two: A preview of the Balkan music event of the year, the annual Golden Festival, which takes place Friday at Jan Hus Church, 351 E 74th (1st & 2nd Aves) and Saturday - the big event, with 40+ bands - at the Good Shepherd School, 620 Isham (near 207th St. and B'way) in upper Manhattan.
