Andrea Echeverri (along with partner Hector Buitrago) leads the adventurous and idiosyncratic Latin-Grammy-winning Colombian rock band Aterciopelados. Aterciopelados began as a pretty straight-up rock band but has broadened its range over the years, incorporating modern electronica as well as traditional Colombian and Spanish-Caribbean roots. And they do it with style.
In an interview recorded before a March 2007 gig at SOBs in New York, Andrea talks about her music and the band's long-awaited new CD Oye on Nacional Records as well as her recent childbirth-themed self-titled solo album.
