must leave early today, glad you played the Salty Dog cut early
Avatar 9:12am Andy says hi:

Neighbors don't really like loud music -- anyone noticed that? But when I listen to wfmu, they seem a little less mad.
9:18am David in ATL from NJ:

Late again. Sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am Mike East:

I wouldnt mind the loud music my neighbor plays if it was wfmu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am melinda:

Great show. I love the Bacharach backing tracks.
  9:23am scott:

In his new autobiography, Burt Bacharach expresses regret over "The Windows of the World," saying that he felt that the song deserved to be heard by more people, but that he let Hal David down by writing a subpar arrangement.
  9:37am GC:

Re: On A Misty Night lyric--
Georgie Fame sang his lyric to the tune, it's on a Per Husby album, from the late 80s, where they do all Dameron. I felt there was room for improvement, so I tried to write my own. Will send a recording sometime....
Avatar 9:37am Reeshard:

That's great news about the schedule, Bob. Thanks for that, glad to know your show is ongoing.
  9:37am Steve S:

The Wreck of the Hesperus was a painting, I have forgotten by who.

Listening from Montréal, it's interesting to hear your show with a 9am start - different from the pre-dawn experience I associate with hearing you at home in California.

Avatar 9:45am northguineahills:

Reeshard, are you at Mutek?
Avatar 9:48am Reeshard:

I wish. As A writer for The Wire, it seems the logical thing, no? Instead, I'm hear for the sound mix of an IMAX film. Though it's funny: On the plane, I encountered a guy wearing a t-shirt from The Wire, something I've never encountered in public. Asked him what he was doing in Montréal: "Mutek."
Avatar 9:53am Reeshard:

The music for 'The Human Vapor' is truly extraordinary, so much so that I taped the soundtrack from my TV when first seeing it on NYC late night television. Later got the score album, which reinforced my initial reaction and then some.
Avatar 10:15am northguineahills:

I usually hit Mutek every year, but this year I'm on the dole, so I'm stuck in NYC.

Bob, ever listen to any Mark Kozelek? He has a few instrumental tunes that'd fit great into your set.

Thanks!

  10:46am Marc Grobman:

Howdy, old buddy! Love that blues/harmonica tune that started with baby please don't go. Love the whole show! Best, Marc
  10:47am Marc Grobman:

Oh, Sonny & Brownie. Never heard that one of theirs. Marc
  8:10pm Eugene Bentley:

Hey Bob! Wreck of the Herperus is a Longfellow poem and there is probably a painting of it as well. It was referenced in Leave It to Beaver. When the character Whitey was called on to resight the poem he called "Wreck of the Asparagus."
