Listener comments!
9:06am : Good morning, Bob. Thanks for a nice, mellow Saturday start with PWC's "Icarus."9:10am : Guten Morgen bb!9:13am : God Bless Cheap Trick!9:24am : Good morning, Bob and fellow listeners!9:25am : Nice shit from Mr. Ray Mason!9:30am : Wouldn't a Froggy's Favorites Volume Two be nice?9:38am : Nouin9:40am : Irwin Chusid's opening theme music sounds an awful lot like the Man from Uncle intro to me.9:41am : Also, for reasons I don't remember, Cheap Trick's been on my mind a lot the past week or so too.9:42am : They were just inducted into the R&R HOF9:44am : I've been commenting that for years about Irwin's opening, but I'm the only one who seems to see the resemblance.
I think maybe Cheap Trick was inducted because I had them on my mind. I have that psychic influence.9:45am : It was on tv last weekend as well9:47am : Your psychic radar must pick up HBO.9:48am : Been seeing little people and dragons in your dreams?9:48am : I haven't watched TV in a few yrs., and it was about 10 days ago I started obsessing about Dream Police. Maybe it had to do with my own dreams.
Anyway, try listening to Irwin's opening theme now, & see if it doesn't sound like the Man from UNCLE music. You have to unpack the melody & rhythm.9:51am : I'm never near a radio during Irwins show.have to check it out9:51am : So did "Yes, I Can, No, You Can't" copy off "Man from UNCLE" or vice versa? Irwin doesn't hear any such resemblance, BTW.🥁 9:53am : I have a distinct memory of hearing a track by track review with band commentary when Skylarking came out. I'm sure it was on FMU.9:53am : wfmu.org... , BEAVO.9:53am : Budo9:54am : Bud Powell - like a Charlie Parker w/ a keyboard left hand - head beaten into mental illness by a Cop.9:57am : ...better details : en.wikipedia.org...9:59am : I'm always hearing resemblances between pieces of music. For another instance, www.youtube.com... and www.youtube.com... . I was at a performance of that trio a few yrs. ago, heard that piece, noticed the resemblance & asked about it. They said theirs was their own composition, they'd never heard that TV show I'd remembered from 50 yrs. previous. Plus it might've been before their time.10:00am : He could Have been a great classical pianist but they wouldn't accept a black artist in those days.10:01am : You're saying they wouldn't dabble in the black arts? ;-)🥁 10:02am : Signing in from the office on a Saturday -- BAH! Keep the good tunes rolling Bob. You're making my morning at work a lot more enjoyable.10:02am : Wow, I'd no idea Bob B. wasn't pre-programming his whole show until he just said he makes most choices at the last minute. Interesting, Bob.10:02am : You said that I didn't!🥁 10:03am : Marcos Valle was a Brazilian songwriter/singer. He cut a few good Lps on Warner Bros. in the late sixties.10:06am : I lay it all to JFK. He said he read Ian Fleming novels, and it's like the next day everyone was reading James Bond.10:07am : Mostly John Kennedy made women swoon, but promoting Ian Fleming was his big influence on men.10:08am : A decent Man from Uncle film seems like an obvious hit but so far we've only seen Uk cheapie that came out last year. That show was huge10:10am : Spanky Rules!10:10am : I couldn't see a Man from UNCLE movie made now as being interesting, because the TV show was a complete creature of its time, making fun of all the super-spy stuff.🥁 10:10am : Agree with Smokin'J!!10:12am : thx bro' 8-)10:15am : Beautiful Spanky and our Gang song.
The song, the harmony vocals, and those atmospheric strings. And the lyrics- full of such week longing.10:16am : Yikes, wayward fingers. I mean, such sweet longing.10:30am : Yo Bob10:34am : The Saga of Rodney Toady, Rodney was a very sad young man.10:35am : Rodney did not want to marry fat and ugly girls.🥁 10:39am : What a wild song to cover. Child of the Universe?10:40am : Byrds cover, what movie was that in?🥁 10:40am : Candy10:41am : Boyd Bennett! Yowsa!!!10:43am : Yes! With Ringo as Manuel the gardener "Dis no good"10:44am : A great movie to watch stoned10:47am : No Nyro, no Runt10:48am : They just released a "Box 'o Todd" with unreleased radio shows from this early period with the Hello People. 71-73.10:49am : Very pretty, Todd10:50am : Todd hates his voice on that early stuff, says "I sound like a little boy."🥁 10:51am : Great show Bob!11:00am : Correct9:41pm : Open channel D
