Listener comments!
9:01am : good morning bob!!!9:01am : Good Morning Bob!9:01am : Good morning Bob!9:02am : hi Bob and gang!9:03am : Good morning, Bob and all. Looks to be the start of a splendid morning. Thanks for a mellow 10CC start.9:03am : Good Morning Malinda, Annie, & Mauri!9:06am : Morning All!9:07am : Ooh, never heard a cover of this Judee, thanks. And morning!9:09am : Morning, Bob! I'm up to hear your show; still dark on the west coast.🥁 9:15am : Morning all. Arthur Blythe died? Damn.9:17am : Hi Bob
You made our day with the Jude Sills song. Judy and I have spent some hours pondering that one and pondering Jude.
Thanks as always9:23am : Wow Bob; true inspiration this morning. Thank you.9:23am : Missed you last week, Bob -- without your show, early a.m. Saturday is not the same!9:25am : ^ Yup all that - & unfamiliar Hollies & beautiful Trane cover too...9:26am : This is such a great set, I feel like it sounds tracking my NY Spring view right now9:27am : Thanks, Bob. I'm dancing around my apt now!9:28am : Also not heard Ronnies version of this except on pete's record9:36am : Excellent documentary about Ronnie Lane:
www.imdb.com...
Ultimately sad though.9:39am : Thanks for that link, tadpoles.9:41am : You're welcome Melinda. Available on Netflix if you're interested. Cheers.9:42am : That is a good flick tadpoles. I didn't even know that was a Faces song, just the Who Came First version. And now I have to go find the Turtles(!) doing Judee Sill...9:44am : Lovin' it!9:45am : Bob, what has PJ been up to?9:46am : My first celebrity sighting was Ronnie Lane at the Whole Foods in Austin in the early 80s. I was in junior high and wasn't familiar with the Small Faces but had just seen him on the cover of Rolling Stone, surrounded by musician friends who were playing a benefit concert, I think. It was a big deal to me then but since he wasn't a current pop star my peers wouldn't have known who I was talking about, had I shared the story.9:49am : Hey, Will, I think the stranger Jude refers to in the first verse is JD Souther, who upped and left her.
I always wondered, though, about her Jesus - does he call her, and everyone, to bear their own crosses as they go through life and suffer. Or are these men she's put her faith in, like JD , really just bandits, false messiah ? Anyway, poor Jude had her needle and her great talent and her mysticism never could overcome it.10:11am : Good morning10:26am : Nice Pentangle10:31am : Lower them frogs, brother. Lower them frogs.10:32am : Most famous Studio/Live..."Wheels of Fire"..Cream !10:34am : didn't that last tune's melody remind one of Golden Years? The title of the compilation was Heroes ... hmmm.10:37am : Yup, Wheels is the one I was thinkin' of (gimme the studio sides!!)
Any other 2lp live/studio albums??10:38am : King Sunny Ade. So light. So laid back.10:39am : "Ummagumma"..the Floyd🥁 10:45am : Chaloff baby🥁 10:46am : Good morning Bob and fellow Brainiacs.10:47am : Mountain: Flower's of Evil🥁 10:49am : Chambers Bros. Love, Peace and Happiness?10:49am : Wasn't Ummagumma 1 record The whole band vs. 1 record of 4 songs each by a member? Was there live stuff?🥁 10:51am : Sides 1 & 2 of Umma recorded live Bob10:52am : Felix Pappalardi brought the Cream ways over with him to Mountain.10:54am : I live near Lindisfarne10:56am : "Anyway" by Family is one side studio and one side live but I guess that doesn't count as there are probably lots of single albums like that n'est ce pas?
Great show thanks Bob!10:56am : Good show!10:58am : Thanks! Saw them this week.10:58am : Chambers Bros. gotta check it out11:03am : Canned Heat - Living the Blues - their second album i think. I once heard Jonathan Swartz play part of it on WNEW in 197?, and then interupt, take it off and apologize for playing it!
