A bit like all those times I growl, hiss, and gnash my teeth when I hear the same stupid ice-cream truck blaring its dopey tune in my neighborhood in a hellish cycle, while nobody else seems to hear it or care.

There used to be truck that rather than Farmer in the Dell just had a bell. KLANG! Every fifteen secs or so. It was nice - and you could hear the whirr of the chiller’s compressor underneath it. So it was in fact a drone for the kids.

Fabio's attitude re: Burton is somewhat understandable given how far Burton has fallen over the years. I loved some of Burton's other early stuff when I was a kid, but I don't know if any of it holds up. (Well, besides Beetlejuice. That's obviously great.)

Oh - haven't seen Burton's Wonka, now you mention it...
His Batman was not the best. Others more his element work real good I think... Often think being a Director is a sort of Creative Megalomania : making all of Reality dance for your lens... They can ironically get myopic sometimes... Also - Cinema conversely such a huge team - not to say corporate effort ...perspective gets lost... Anyhow - gotta match the Director to the right (& good!) Writer (this 'simple' concern far too often missed ...for many reasons...) - & to the Theme & all this...
