From what I read there, it's 3 LP's, one of new music not on the original LP. This is the album (if I remember correctly) that MIngus went back and overdubbed bass (he didn't like the original bass for some reason); the 3rd LP is the album without overdubs (tne newly released music is also without bass overdubs).

There's a Swedish issue from the 70's that has less editing and w/out Mingus' overdubs. If there's more stuff from this concert that would be monumental.

You used to be able to advertise a drink as wet, i.e. dilute. But that was before bottled water became popular, and now soda's so expensive they made them all sweeter so you'd think you were getting more for your money. Except New Coke, that backfired.

See also the Canada Dry ginger ale campaign, "It's not too sweet."

There's too much great stuff bring reissued-there's a box set of Ornette Coleman's Blue Note albums that's calling my name, this one likely has great suond (even if you have another version, I've found the Craft reissues to generally sound better, if that matters to one). My poor bank account...

Re: that 7-Up commercial, here's what Back Stage had to say in Sept. '67:

"If you think the new track for 7-Up's Wet & Wild commercials sounds psychedelic, you're right. For JWT, Shield Production's Marty Rubenstein wrote the music backwards, and through a whole series of forwards, reverses, overdubbings, instrumentals, vocals, created the groovy track." Southside Johnny did a version of Pretty Ballerina if you want to think of voice that's so incongruent with the style of the song.

Caught most of the show today between the music and a phone call from an old friend in NYC. I'll give the Archives a visit to listen to what I missed. Thanks again for a great show.
