That would make an interesting thesis: the possible junctures between those 'pop culture' tropes of pan-Africanism cropping up at that time in artistic output juxtaposed with what some of the individuals involved thought about personally, or even if they thought about it personally. What kind of journeys were they on, and why. What was marketing, and what was real, or at least poetic-real? How were their ideas seated in history? Whose versions of history? Why was it seen as necessary? How were mid-century social upheavals shaping a manifestation of cosmic oneness, etc etc etc
