Random bright idea. Has it ever happened? A tribute band plays a tiny venue in Ordinary, New Hampshire, at the precise time that imitated band--Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Styx, Bob Dylan, you name it--performs at MSG. A plant at the arena transmits the songs as the big band plays, and the tribute band performs them, same order, same timing.

↳ Song: "Punch and Judy [other version]" by "Elliott Smith"
In the Summer of 2001 I saw Elliot Smith have a melt down in front of a huge crowd in L.A. No in the audience knew how to react. He would start a song then stop for about five minutes and just sit there.

Of course, this was the beginning of the end. Two years later he was dead.

Reminds me of when I saw Phil Ochs in a packed Greenwich Village club-he played a little, rambled in a depressed sounding way most of the set. He didn't make it much longer either...

Judy/Judith peak popularity for babies in USA in the 1950s, gradually falling ever since. (Typical pattern when a name seems "old" and or "common" until parents rediscover it.)

Via Quora:
Cary Grant (1904–1986) never said “Judy, Judy, Judy” in any of his 42 movies but, for a generation, any mimic who summoned the British-born movie star would repeat that name. The closest he ever came was in 1939’s “Only Angels Have Wings” directed by Howard Hawks. Grant often says the name "Judy" in the film, but never three times in succession. In interviews over the years, Grant expressed his bemusement over the tag line. Grant is often incorrectly quoted as saying "Judy, Judy, Judy" to Rita Hayworth in this movie. The misquote is often attributed to comedian Larry Storch who, in the middle of one of his nightclub acts, saw Judy Garland walk in as he was impersonated Grant. Apparently this is how he addressed her. (Storch recently died at age 99.) During the making of 1963’s “Charade,” screenwriter Peter Stone used to joke with Grant about “Judy, Judy, Judy.” He recalls: "While we were shooting the taxi scene - right near the end of the picture where Audrey's feet are up in his lap and he's massaging them - Cary looked at the camera and said (Stone imitating Grant) "Juday, Juday, Juday. There. Now you've got it on film!'" Grant and Garland almost worked together in 1954 for George Cukor’s “A Star Is Born.” He at first accepted, then turned down the role of Norman Maine, citing semi-retirement as his reason. After Grant's death, his widow revealed that Garland's drug addiction made the actor have second thoughts and drop out of the film.

DJ Peter, as per last week's Craft Records reissues, I just got a nice Crafrt reissue of Gil Evans & Ten (it was a Record Store release this year, but looks like they still have some available by mail order). Agreed. Something about her doesn't translate to modern sensibility.
Of course at the time she was notorious for stage work and for battling censorship boards. (Well, I don't know that she actively battled them, but her films challenged them and probably generated a lot of interest.)
