  9:04am anne:

  9:06am Mark:

Hoboken sewage makes everything sound better

  9:07am Nathan:

Ahhh.. the warm crackle of crappy vinyl!
  9:08am S.:

I have once washed a few dozen of my grandfather's CDs after a flood. Some became transparent and unplayable but others are fine.
  9:08am pierre:

Bonjour KEN !
Bonjour all listeners !
  9:08am Irene:

So sorry to hear it! Mild dishwashing soap and water does wonders.

  9:14am MD:

Good mornin from wet Jersey!!!! How many days left???
Out of 40 I mean...
  9:16am Kevin:

hej hej from sweden, ken & pierre
  9:18am pierre:

the "god hate Ken" t shirt ?

@ Kevin : hey Hej !
  9:20am a dog:

Jersey stinks when it gets wet. Of course, it ain't exactly a bed of fragrant cedar shavings when it's dry, either.
  9:20am Stevel:

I'm guessing its bad to use bleach on vinyl.
  9:20am jan:

The albums were relegated to the basement? All the music you have played so far sound lovely and have such high coliform counts.
  9:23am Mark:

this one is extra crispy
  9:24am pierre:

is this making sense :
http://recordrevirginizer.com/pics/a266_vinyl.jpg
  9:29am BSI:

hey kid, you talk too much.
  9:29am Thelma Blitz:

This was Randy Burns not Erica Pomerance-- ESP-Disk same era. From "Morning of the Magicians" -- ca 1968 1969 Not sure of the title of the song but it's beautiful.
  9:30am annie:

this makes me want to vomit
  9:30am hamburger:

  9:36am Lou:

Got any earwhigs?
  9:36am Neg-guh-tor:

Damn. Buddy Starcher was a right cunt, eh? Oh, blind man's penis is erect! I'm learning so much on your show today, Ken!
  9:37am Robert:

I'd say "A Blind Man's Penis" was "lost" even when it was found!
  9:38am Mark:

maybe you could clean your lps in a dishwasher
  9:39am not an expert:

a dishwasher's heat would melt the vinyl a bit, don't you think?
  9:39am Robert:

I've heard of discwashers, but I'm afraid a dishwasher would melt discs.
  9:40am not an expert:

as for the e. coli woes, use non-chlorine bleach (hydrogen peroxide). much safer
  9:40am Michael:

Rome lasted more than twice the current lifetime of the U.S. after most of the events that sod mentioned; the Eastern Empire lasted more than a millenium more. Attila was as 'Asiatic' as the Celts.
'Barbarism coming to Rome' consisted mostly of cruelty and violence that had been used to keep the Empire in line's coming home. Sound familiar?
  9:41am Mark:

I don't know could be worth a try, just don't use heated drying. I bet 45s could cleaned on the top rack
  9:41am not an expert:

you really need some gloves, non-chlorine bleach, and lint-free towels, Ken
  9:41am Webhamster Henry:

Ken leads the way with sewage-core music.
  9:42am PKNY:

As someone who lugged about 1000 records out of my basement before Irene, I can only imagine how gutted you're feeling. Stay strong, brother!
  9:42am not an expert:

the water's heat is enough to melt vinyl, don't you think?
  9:42am bbell:

Speaking of hepatitis, back in the 70's when a crew team member fell into the River Charles up in Boston, that person was swiftly taken to the hospital for a hepatitis shot! Stay safe, Ken!
  9:43am Thelma Blitz:

No Ken-- the Randy Burns album is called "Morning of the Magicians." The Erica Pomerance album is called "To Leonard from the Hospital" (Leonard Cohen, it meant, that's why the track was featured for the title, probably)
Randy Burns' album is more beautiful, Tom Rapp-like, but less well known. In fact, Tony Coulter helped me identify it years ago. I didn't know Randy Burns either despite hanging at ESP in those days.
  9:46am Mark:

I love that dirty water...
  9:48am Mark:

I don't know who is willing to try it and possiply ruin their vinyl and dishwasher at the same time
  9:48am Thelma Blitz:

OOps, a mistake. The Randy Burns album is called "Evening of the Magician." There was an occult book going around in those days called "Morning of the Magicians" which is probably what it takes off from. Sorry.
Find the album here:
http://www.espdisk.com/official/catalog/1089.html
  9:50am Luke:

Good morning Ken and all. Its cold here.
  9:51am Thelma Blitz:

It's the last track on this album " "Evening of the Magician."
10. When Daylight Comes In Everything
  9:54am Ken:

Thanks Thelma - This is an ESP Sampler called "An Evening with ESP"
  9:55am Cecile:

hi, all. What's the theme today?
  9:56am Ken:

The theme is: Records that will give you food poisoning.
  9:58am Bad Ronald:

Scat?
  9:58am Cecile:

Sounds good. Can you play One Nation Under a Groove?
  9:58am M I S T E R G A R C I A:

I was in Costa Rica and worms drilled into my CD's - they have a CD worm in Costa Rica, believe!
  9:59am Cecile:

No connection to the theme at all, but I am the hypno-toad of this show. Might as well own it. :D
  10:01am Cecile:

ha, a true earworm, M R G.
  10:03am Ŧ๏Ŧ๏:

  10:22am Luke:

  10:23am Thelma Blitz:

  10:23am MD:

  10:23am pierre:

@Ŧ๏Ŧ๏ : i'm listening right now, so yeah do listen !
i'm not considering our pact broken as we are fellow wfmu-ers, to me that stronger than a pact.
  10:24am Draft Hillary:

I read Cheney endorsed her, too. MEEEOWWWW
  10:25am Michelle in Green Bay:

So I just got out of class and tuned into the stream to hear Ken talking about sewage. So...um...good morning?
  10:27am pierre:

Anyway, in two minutes I have to go and come back in an hour and a half. Just in time, you know? ¬¬' sheesh
  10:32am jan:

Ken- Can't tell if your monologue about record cleaning is a true account or entertainment... but cleaning records can be done much like hand washing dishes- soak in Warm soapy water (not too long or the labels will deteriorate) and you can scrub with a very soft toothbrush if there are caked on substances, then rinse in water, and blot dry with a soft towel or paper towels. I often washed used records Using big plastic bins would be a good alternative to washing sewage contaminated items in the kitchen sink.
  10:39am Hundreds of Ruined Records:

Yeah, we are a fucking laugh riot of entertainment.
  10:40am Hundreds of Ruined Records:

It's still raining here. Is there a PSA giving directions to the Ark?

Sept 7 (Reuters) - Tropical Depression 14, which formed on
Tuesday evening, was nearing tropical storm strength, the U.S.
National Hurricane Center said in its latest report on
Wednesday.
At 05:00 a.m. EST (0900 GMT), Tropical Depression 14 was
located about 1100 miles (1770 km) west-southwest of the Cape
Verde Islands and about 1445 miles (2340 km) east of The Lesser
Antilles, packing maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour
(55 km/h).
The depression was moving toward the west near 20 miles per
hour (32 km/h), the NHC added.
"Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours,
and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm
today," the NHC said.
If it develops into a storm, it would be named Maria.
Tropical cyclones become named tropical storms when their winds
exceed 39 miles per hour (63 km/h) and become hurricanes when
their winds reach more than 74 mph (119 km/h).
  11:42am bananiers dame:

"Maupassant!"

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquariums. The sea creatures will take over the flooded earth. Maybe they will be less warlike than the large mammals who currently dominate the planet and threaten to destroy it.
  11:52am Earth:

Hey you all can't destroy me, I'll just shrug you off like I did the dinosuars
  11:52am still b/p:

Cecile -- your Suddenly request last week got it stuck in my head a few times, including Monday when I was mountain biking in the woods and risk-relevant adaptations rolled right along automatically --
"Suddenly, I smacked a small tree..."
or
"Injury, might happen to me.."
  11:53am Ŧ๏Ŧ๏:

Well, so far so good! And Awwww you played Vaughan's Ballad! :)

Ken, I'm just reading the comments...I remember you said in last show you lost 1500 crappy vinyls thanks to Irene. But, are those the ones you are cleaning?
